I do value PR and always try to increase it, its the different case that PR doesn't gona give traffic and good results in google SERPS but still this shows how authanticative your site is after google consider all the factors for PR...
I know that PR will not help more to get ranking but it have some weigh and if you have good PR your site will be consider as a trusted one. Main thing i like it, if u have high pr of your link page it help to get high pr back links.
It amazes me to see who publicly say --they do not value PR PR=High Valued links=Good SERPs (the number of inconsequential links won't improve your serps at all) Google itself says PR is at the heart of their ranking system. Lets be Man --and admit it. May be your business does not require it --but still you need SERPs and for SERPs yor need high valued-relevant links which will automatically bring in Good PR. It just makes me laugh when people try to differentiate between PR & SERPs. PR and SERPs are complementary most of the times -- rather than being 2 diff. entities. OK-- PR is not the most important factor for SERPs --but its definitely one of the important factors.
I value it to a degree. In that if you're ever looking to sell a site you've had for a while PR ads value for alot of people also it's great for charging more for advertising and links. But apart from that... from my experience it doesn't make any difference in your SERPs. Only quality content and link occurance and generally solid SEO does.
I figure if my site displays the top of page one, odds are that a high PR will follow, but I'd rather be high in the search results than the PR if I can only have one or the other. In a way, it reminds me of military rank. In theory, a Brigadier General who outranks a Corporal or Sergeant, should have the training and wits to beat the lesser ranks smaller experience and military background. But that may not always be the case. So would someone rather have the higher military rank, or would they rather win the engagement?
The best post in this thread. I would think any webmaster who is both informed and honest about it would have to say they value PR to at least some extent.
That is classic. I too, have run into people that have hired me only to raise their PR. I have done so, and then advised them that they should take a quick look at their numbers and hire me to actually help their business. The only time I ever saw PR make a difference in anything, was when I was getting 1.4 million pages indexed and we were measuring who was showing up above whom for similar searches.
I do, though I know it doesn't have any real use when it comes to search engine rankings or anything like that. It's just an ego thing really.
To a certain extent, yes. I make it simple for myself. Links --> PR. Content --> SE. Add those two together = traffic.
