    Look i Love Obama,

His speeches inspire me and thousands. His presence gives me chills

And yet I am still wondering what is so significant about this man, who is a freshman senator that can be so effective to this nation..

    So I ask you

Do you think Obama will be an awesome president who will get reelected in 4 years?

    OR

Do you think Obama will make a mistake and lose his popularity and the next election?

I don't feel any authority to decide but i ask you wise members of digitalpoint.

Everybody makes mistakes, and Obama is no exception. He can only lose popularity from now on, as now he has to act. When talk comes to action, that's when the boys are separated from men and the men look like kids. There are no 100% popular actions. Inaction is worse.

One may ask, if Bush can do it, why can't he. But times and people have changed. Nothing can be reliably predicted for a year, let alone 8 years. Only time will tell.

Remember how much people loved Bush after 9/11? Same will happen with him. Except he won't screw it up this time.

I think he'll do fine his first term and GREAT his second.

If you look back at all the gaffes and hilarity of the campaign. Barack himself only made 2 mistakes. (Bitter / spread the wealth). That's a pretty good indicator IMO that he's not exactly a mistake machine. You can tell as his demeanor changes he takes this position even more seriously than before (obviously).

Good observation, George. I forget which conservative commentator said a similar thing - marveled at a near perfect campaign, which isn't easy, across the many months. I agree that it speaks to a well-run organization, and this can carry over to the administration. I also agree with you in that I've also noticed a shift since the election, to an even deeper sobriety, gravitas, whatever you want to call it.

What if I think he'll make really *awesome* mistakes? LOL ;)
    ================

No question he had a well run campaign, whether that translates into a great presidency... well Carter had a good campaign.

One important point of a well run campaign seems to be avoiding getting pinned to specifics in the early going. Taking sides on an issue tends to alienate those on the other side, so the voters that approve of you beomes a Venn diagram including the overlap of those that are not mad at you over one stand or another. Obama is good at moving speeches that have more feel-good than specifics. It served him well on the trail.

I watched a very flattering piece on PBS that stated outright that he'd made a conscious effort (at the suggestion of mentors that expected him to make a POTUS run) to avoid making controversial stands in the Senate in order to avoid creating enemies before an anticipated Presidential run. PBS wasnt saying it as criticism, they were complimenting his strategy.

Problem is the President MUST commit to programs and make decisions in order to have an effect. As such, yes, his popularity is pretty much guaranteed to drop simply on the grounds that right now he's a bit of a blank slate onto which some have cast their hopes. As his record as pres inevitably becomes concrete there will be defectors from his camp that decide they were wrong... and that actually isnt a critique on him, just a statistical reality.

In short, no matter what he does he will probably lose the campaign driven luster... AFTER that whether it rises or falls will depend on how his programs and actions are viewed by the public. He currently has an edge with the media, it would serve him well to try to keep that. They have an interest in seeing him do well right now, but that has a limited life span.

He made many mistakes on the campaign trail, remember his comments about people in small towns holding on to guns and god? Except McCain made more mistakes.

I think the expectations are so high I don't see how he won't be a disappointment.

Yeah, but he'd have to really try hard at sucking to be worse than GWB.
It would take some real effort.

He will try and hopefully not succeed in taking our country in a whole new direction. *well, not really new to other countries, but new to us.

Since people think it is name-calling, we have a new name for this old plan - Obamaism

So all you Obamaists out there, is this better? Or am I going to get personal attacks from people saying it is name-calling again... LOL I called Obama an Obamaist.

I hope he does what is "right" and not what is popular or most appealing to someone.

I'm not in any great need of a new-age religion, but I gather I'm in the minority on that. I snort when I hear people parroting Oprah calling him "The One". Somebody's been watching waaay too many "Matrix" movies. :-p

Obama is ALL talk and we will all find out sooner than later.

He said he would vote against wiretapping American citizens and he voted for it.

He consistently says that he will remove "combat troops" from Iraq while leaving troops to "fight terrorism" there, while expanding the military and putting more troops in Afghanistan and confronting Russia in Georgia.

He blames capitalism for the financial crisis when everyone with half a brain in their head can see the government intervention that caused it after 5 minutes of study.

The guy is a total establishment tool. Having said that, I am happy that his win will promote racial healing, and it has brought a lot of new people into politics. Now that they're here, hopefully they will be open to whatever Ron Paul Revolution candidate that runs in 2012(if there is an election then).

LOL, I have to agree. I hear someone call him "The One" on a daily basis and it drives me nuts. I don't know why. Maybe it's because some people at work who call him "The One" are still waiting for him to knock on their door, hand them a bag full of money, and walk away without saying a word. Keep wishing people....

When Obama walks on water or can beat up tons of Agents in the Matrix, I'll glady call him "The One"....Obama wouldn't look good in a black trench coat though....

On the other hand, there's some ignorant techs at work that have actually made Obama into a bad thing to be called. They call ALL of our African American techs Obama now, and not in a good way. They mean to be degrading in doing it. It's like they replaced the "N" word with Obama. Makes me sad to see such things and management does nothing about it....

Great point! If you see many blog posts there are a bunch of people think he is gonna save us all. I addressed that on blog Obama Is Not the Messiah.

I admit, he a great speaker and can WOW the masses but does he have enough experience to lead. I believe, much like Bush, he will follow those around him and be a puppet. You already see Rahm Emanuel hitting the airwaves sprouting what will be done in the Obama administration.

I have read some crazy woman write on her blog that Obama has pulled her out of 8 years of gloom and depression. This is like a cult more than it being the election of a new President.

Guess what? Prices will still rise, taxes will still increase, and yes you will still have to work to feed your family. He may steal from the rich to feed the poor but that will trickle down to the middle class because jobs will be lost and prices will rise.

Social Security was suppose to feed the senior citizens and now we have many of these people eating Alpo and living in slums because they believed that they were going to be taken care of by the Government in their old age.

You quoted my post, but I don't think you responded to it. Maybe clarify. I don't call him "the One" I call him the big O' O for Obama or I guess the One... lol

WOW. You really should take some of that fire you have and speak out. Teach some of those ignorant idiots how stupid they sound by calling blacks Obama. Sorry if you have to work amongst a bunch of racists.
