My girlfriend is thinking of a changing her major and she has narrowed her choices down to two, Computer Science or Graphics Design. The only problem is she can't decide which one she likes better so I thought I'd come to the DP community for help on this one. Personally I have an affinity for Computer Science mainly because I am a programmer myself so I didn't want to give her an opinion that was obviously bias. While there is nothing wrong with Graphics Design, I personally feel Computer Science has more use, although I am sure some may feel otherwise. Rather than tell her what I think, I'd like to get some opinions from other people. So I guess my question is which one do you guys like better between the two, and why do you think it's a better choice overall. Please give as much detail on your opinion as possible as I think it'd help her more if she understands where you are coming from with your choice between the two. Thanks.
Forget both of them and tell her to get a job at Macca's. It does not pay much but the learning plays an important part in climbing the ladder one rung at a time.
she must continue with computer science and whn she is bored do some graphic design, knowledge will never go waste, im sure both can be managed if she is willing to do.
I don't think she wants to do both. It's one or the other. However, let's say for example, if she picks CS, she'd probably learn Graphics Design on the side for learning sake, and vice versa. However as a major, it's one or the other.
cs is a vast subject, graphic design is just a part of computer science, but well if she wants to choose anyone then she can look for graphic design.
I think Graphics Design isn't really part of CS although they do relate in some ways (very minor). So far I've posted this question in two different forums and the majority seem to point towards CS over GD
