I'm starting my A Levels on tuesday and my parents want me to get a job in order to pay for the train. I don't really want to get a job because I will lose out on all the time I have at the weekend to do coursework and things.

By the way, Im 16. If that is relevant.

Am I right here? Or just lazy?

No your not lazy, as you said you wanted the free time to work on coursework.

I just finished my two years at college and in the time I was there I never had a job. Having a part time job would benefit you in the long term though as you can stick it on your CV and it will show your future employers that your willing to work.

Just my opinion but i'd not get a job and concentrate on your work, as the grades you could get will no doubt get you a decent enough job in the future.

 

you enter college to study so you should concentrate on study not working. yes you can do part-time but dont let it interfere your study. I say it from my own experience.

 

Nothing wrong being being lazy, you're 16 for god sake. Mooch while you still can.

 

Enjoy your youth because you will be working for the rest of your life until you reach retirement age.

Well, it would be tiring to balance work and studies but you'd learn to be more responsible and value your time. Also, you'll be earning too so it's not that bad...think of it as a challenge. You'll be more ready to face the real world in no time

Got job, still mum to pay fares, so here i am to finance my expenses by myself.

 

I worked as a tutor in my spare time when in colleges.
That is experience I enjoy.

 

i am 18 and since last year i havent asked for a single penny from parents , i am living on adsense
i even bought my bike from it
