    Another one?

Seriously, that is exactly what our founding fathers had in mind when they enshrined our right to freedom of speech. *

Our founding fathers did not fight and die so that they, and we, would have the right to say things like "bippity boppity boo" and "I like cheese." They fought and died so that they and their descendants could freely speak about politics and religion.

I'm fine with knowing that dozens, if not hundreds, of DP members supported the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11. It's better that I know than that I live in the dark.

    * In the U.S. -- does not apply to DP

Although in some cases I don't find it right calling insulting "freedom of speech", I'm not against freedom of speech. But not everyone thinks like me. Some Turkish people are way too patriotic and defensive against the insults over their religion and country.

Note: I didn't exactly get the meaning of "another one", but I assume you meant it like I was another one who supports 9/11. If my assumption is right, my answer to that is "hell no". Those who caused deaths of tons of innocent people on 9/11 shall burn in the hell.

In Turkey, it's not accepted, and in many cases illegal, to publish drawings of Muhammad, talk about the A. G., and K. rights. Ok, these are laws/rules in Turkey, BUT (there is a BUT) DigitalPoint (correct me if i'm wrong) is not a Turkish forum hosted in Turkey, and 95% of the forum members have nothing to do with Turkey. We discuss Turkey when Turkey is in the news, and we all share different views on Turkish issues just like u and me might not share the same views on US foreign policy (example).

Your friends, the so-called 'Turkish Patriots' are a small group engaged in nationalist propaganda and cyberterrorism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyber-terrorism

I wish you would realize this in the first place.

Your friends spread islamophobia in the Western world (the same world that Turkey wants to integrate), much better than any local Swedish or Danish journalist would, by attacking thousands of sites that have nothing to do with the Bush administration, or Israel... or the topics illegal in Turkey (A.G. , K.).

I know who the Turkish Patriots are, and where they live, and everybody knows that, and everybody also knows who protects them from the FBI, the CIA, and other agencies fighting cyberterrorism. They are also almost immune to prosecution in Turkey because many are under 18. The real life patriots are in the Army not behind their computers at their parents homes.

This is the only thing coming out of cyberterrorist attacks from Turkey:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=islamophobia&btnG=Google+Search

They also tarnish the reputation of Turkey as a modern and secular State, and Erdogan the Islamist is always fighting with the Army. The Army is secular in Turkey, it is the guardian of Turkey's secular democracy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kemalist_ideology

Your buddies should finish their studies and pay more attention to the life of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, he wanted a modern, democratic and secular nation-state guided by educational and scientific progress not an Iranian-style Islamic republic with uneducated kids.

I agree with your statements but I wanna make it clear that they are not my friends, nor my buddies. I don't support any kind of terrorist action.

Also, I'm a left wing supporter, and a dedicated follower of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Not only that but some Turks who signed up to DP to make threats of DDOS attacks are not even banned & their posts making the threats are still on DP, yet i also noticed just a simple news item about Turkey (which was on yahoo news) was deleted, i was also given an infraction for telling someone who the people were who were DDOS'ing DP, it's really is shocking to say the least.

That's what i was thinking, i'm atheist & see posts bashing atheists but noting is done (not that i'm bothered, but what is good for the goose & all that).

This entire conversation is bunk. Shawn isn't required to provide any of us with a platform for freedom of speech. Toopac and all the others: if you feel like you have something important to say I would suggest taking it outside of an obscure area of a webmaster oriented forum.

I'm personally a fan of P&R (because of the jokers, not in spite of them) and I would like to see it remain but you guys are acting like entitled children. Also, many of the people posting here are the same ones that ruin the P&R forum for others in making it such a target. Obviously no one should be attacking the site (or anything or anyone else) but I don't understand why you work so hard to put across a point of view that you know will get people riled up - especially when that point of view is so blatantly racist and biased.

You armchair politicians kill me :D

Everyone should really stop assuming they know everything that goes on on the backend here. The news article was removed because it was a copy/paste plagiarized article from CNN. A note was sent to that user letting them know they can repost, but to please not directly copy/paste other site's content.

That really is not a new rule at all either... Many people have been banned for repeatedly doing that (one that comes to mind was anthonycea).

So yeah, just because you see something removed that you liked, don't assume it's a conspiracy against you or things you like. I'm sure there have been things removed (for one reason or another) about things you hate too.

Whilst you obviously have a problem with me & want to drag me into your otherwise useless post, i would like to point out that you addressed none of the issues in my post that you quoted & went on to pretend it's about something else (free speech) i'm not interested in free speech, infact i never mentioned it, whatever shawn wants is fine it's his forum, what actually is distrubing that threats made against DP are still not deleted dispite being reported & the member(s) who made them are not banned.

Surely even you can see the problem here?

Now can you actually address my post if you would like to quote it this time?

He posted on his own forum that he was banned for a week (or was it 4 days?) for flaming, and then less than a week after being unbanned, he was banned again, and i havn't seen him since. He continued to flame after he was unbanned the first time.

I don't know the final reason why he was banned, but i am making a educated guess.

I have 1 quick question, i must sound stupid asking, but will he ever unbanned? I actually miss him, i love the way he expresses his opinions without thinking about overs, and normally causing "accidental insult".

Not sure what you're talking about - I didn't quote any post at all. As far as worrying about posts being deleted and members banned - this is not your site. It is not your place or position to worry about the administration of a site that you do not own. That's about the equivalent of you coming to my place for dinner and then whining about the limited selection of beverages - you'd be out on your ass no sooner then the whine left your mouth.

Let me be clear in saying that I don't have a problem with you; you simply stand out as one of the posters that I noticed in the P&R forum with extremist non-humanist views. Any non-humanist view is like to upset other humans - that is common sense. Your posting in this thread simply allowed me to make an example of you - don't take it personally, there is no need to catch feelings in what should be a clear and concise discussion.

Gloss over the issues all you like, it's distrubing that cyber terrorists can post such threats & nothing happens.

Non-humanist, please link me to one post?

You stand out as a person that can be slapped down & you won't even get back up, that is from viewing your posts in P&R but that's up to you, it's all good:D

I think you should keep the politics forum. It always provides an interesting diversion away from "webmaster" talk despite the fact that some members are always stirring up trouble by being offensive to other religions and cultures.

I'm not glossing over anything at all. I care as much about a Turkish armchair politician making threats on the internet as I care about an American armchair politician making threats on the internet. Seriously, I've got far better things to put my mind and hand to. Have you seen the internet lately? The porn, the racism, the scamming? It's a cesspool that you can't hope to clean - especially with whining.

I cannot link you to one post because claiming that one post cannot be linked to in which you've shown non-humanist views is ridiculous. I've said a fair share of things in the P&R forum that could be called non-humanist and we both know that, for every one thing I posted that could be seen that way, you've posted 100 or more. You play one side or the other ALWAYS, without exception. That is considered non-humanist by definition and by spirit, there is no way around it. You deliberately push buttons on extremist views that you know the majority will disagree with simply to cause a stir. It comes across as a neediness for attention at best, an attempt at sabotage at worst.

And this is where the insulting begins - see the trend? I'm simply here to state my views and to make it clear that, despite there being many extremist posters who propagate hate in the P&R forum, there are also some level-headed and intelligent thinkers who visit. I won't stoop to your level simply because I don't know you - for me to presume to know anything about you personally would be a stretch that I could not back up. Your comments are one and the same. That, my friend, is what is "all good."
