Political sites allowed?

I see the YPN will not let you publish on political websites, I do not see this explicit in Google’s terms (or I am missing it), but will they ban it also?

I would ask Google, but I hate asking them anything as I see too many times their response seems to be contradictory when I read these boards.

    Thanks.

I guess I should have posted this in "Guidelines / Compliance" sorry.

Even though DP is a super duper source of info, I would ask google "google specific" questions. What would it hurt?!

So, really. You would rather ask and trust the information of a bunch of webmasters that may or may not be your competition than to get the info straight from Google?

There's some great info here, sure. But there is also a great deal of speculation, misinformation, hype, and outright lies. Google's responses may vary from time to time but if you ever run into a tight spot by following their response at least you have an email from a rep to cover your actions.

And also, if the big G tell you somthing, you can refer back to it with them if they complain later...

In a way, what I was hoping is that some people here had a direct experience with Google and this type of site. I am somewhat trusting, maybe that is a bad thing.

But I guess your right, having a response either way from them would give me something, if they have no problem with it then I can use that if I need it. But that also has been said here that one rep may say yes, another say no.

    Thank you.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to be a smartass. DP is a big forum and a LOT of people come here. Most are great and want to help. Some aren't. And even some more are not very bright but think that they are. I've learned that the hard way in my short time here.

I think that it's better to get it straight from the horse's mouth.

For what it's worth, though, I am positive that I have seen Adsense on political sites before.

Where did you get that YPN doesn't let you post their ads on political websites? Can you quote the section from the TOS you are getting this from?

I guess bob803 answered your question.
I don't know why Google would not allow "Political, religious or charitable organizations, issues or causes". What's wrong with these?

But how could you make any money from politics anyway?

I do not know why they would not want ads on those, as long as people know what to expect what is the problem? you got me.

I get plenty of ads on my political pages, so there is no lack of advertisers it seems. The page is a blog and refference site, it was not made for adsense, but I can use any extra money to pay hosting costs as I run my sites on deticated servers. I expected that if the page works and I get the traffic, that would turn into revenue, not the main reason for it, but like I said, why not make money on it if I can.

How well they pay, how much can it make, not sure, it is a fairly new site for me.
But I just used my adsense account from my main site, but did not want to have any ban problems as it seems that there has been an increase in that. I would hope that all they would do, as in one other site I had, was warn me and stop sending ads to that one site. I was going to use YPN, as I did get them recently, but have not yet added any ads to any site with them, but as you see they seem to be saying no dice.

From Al Gore in his bid for the presidency in 2008. He did invent the Internet, you know. :)

p.s. This is just a joke, please don't take it as pro, or anti-anything
