I’m seeking an editorial, political writer to write for a column in a woman’s e-zine (target market is 25 to 40 years old, college educated and working women). You are preferably female or you can provide commentary about politics from a woman’s perspective; you are American and will be writing about American politics. When you write about politics, you strike a balance of being opinionated and having an opinion. You strike a balance of not being argumentative, but providing an argument. You have a thick skin as well because readers will have the option to comment on the articles you write. For consideration, please submit a political, editorial writing sample and a brief view on what your politics are like--e.g., are you republican, democrat or independent? Religious or non-religious? What is your stance on abortion issues, etc.? There are no right or wrong answers. But you must have an opinion about something either way (no fence-sitters!). You must NOT make ad hominem attacks against candidates or groups. Attack their policies, but do NOT attack the person. Obviously, you have to keep abreast on political issues and have to have some knowledge of political history (e.g. having taken an early American history course in college and/or high school). The article is due monthly and the pay is $7 for 300 to 500 words. You will also get a byline (your name alongside the article) with contact information (email/website) if you choose.
