How many of us have had a parking ticket? How do the police get away with it? Check this picture out http://www.fgnpr.com/458/police-breaking-parking-laws-see-picture Thanks Brian
I hope that's a joke. Too many police are under the mistaken impression that they are the law, instead of there to enforce it. I remember vividly a case where a Cleveland detective was zapped by a Gatso and tried every trick in the book to evade prosecution, which he managed. I remember being next the Monument, which I'm sure you'll know, and watching a uniformed police officer march up to a teenaged lad and pick a fight with him purely because he was staring at him. Do as I say not as I do.
Power is known to make people corrupt and unfortunately, Police are the great example of the same! They were made and given powers for the sole purpose of protecting the society but they seem to have assumed themselves to be GOD in the process! Regards, RightMan
I hear the same thing with our local fire department. I know someone on the department, and I hear that some of them drive WAY too fast with the trucks and use the fire as an excuse to speed unsafely, endangering more people.
Some misuse their powers given to them to enforce the law, they need to protect the law and also protect the people. Due to some police the entire department getting a bad name. I think this should be cleared by higher officials in the police department. In my locale many traffic police gets bribe for allowing HMV in high roads in Peak hours though.
There are some good guys in the police, though. Now, you can get into the police just for being an ethnic minority or a woman. The good police officers are leaving because they're having to work with useless people, and morale is low. (My uncle's in the police)
People armed with power to protect the law are often seen breaking them and it is a common practice in many of the developing countries. The authority conferred on them makes them to behave like super humans.
I see them breaking traffic signals etc everyday. Many of them keep smoking on duty. But I guess they have the power and they are allowed to do what ever they want.
My Dad's biggest gripe is every time he sees them and they're not wearing a seatbelt despite seatbelt laws.
Police can sometimes get away with things like this that others of us could not. If responding to an emergency they can pretty much park wherever they want, but otherwise they should abide by the same laws that constrain the average citizen.
they can park whereever they want that doesnt bother me they do a strange job that requires thinking out the boundaries. but as the second poster said, ive seen that situation as i was the teenager who was merely looking at the police officer he came up to a group of us and took only me and my mates details, called me a poof because i was wearing a burberry scarf. ive seen many other cases of corrupt or hypocrite police.
Things like this amaze me; the police should be setting an example for the rest of us to follow. A family member recently reported a police officer for drinking from a coke can while he was driving down a motorway; she was assured that the officer would receive a stern warning. If it was the other way round, the offender would have received 3 points and a fine. Thanks Brian
