You keep having to destroy the same portals over and over which gains you points in the game and builds towards badges but I find it a bit monotonous. I enjoy finding obscure portals and then working out how to get to them. The effort totally outweighs any value in game so it's not a good strategy. "Cargressing" where you drive around portal dense areas and work very quickly is a very efficient way to gain points and gear but I find it pretty lame. One of the first things that attracted me to Ingress was that it was a bit like an urban Rogaine but that is only a tiny part of the game.
lol, sure, if I find sitting in a moving car hacking portals dull then I'm going to find sitting in a stationary car operating a drone soooo much more exciting.
If you had a self driving car you could be sitting in a moving car operating a drone with your phone on the drone and you could be operating your phone with a computer remotely
I think you missed my point about not wanting to be in a car at all. But yes, self driving cars will be awesome for those who do want to cargress safely.
Yeah... everyone tends to find what they like about the game and their play gravitates towards that. Some people like blowing stuff up mindlessly, some people like rebuilding blown up stuff, some people like to have little fortress areas that can't be taken down unless a group comes. Some people live for killing guardian portals on day 149, etc. Myself, I like the fielding part of it... The math/geometry and sneaking a link through something with 1 meter of clearance on either side... that's what I find fun.
That one I just don't get. Met a lovely, sweet woman on Friday but after we'd moved on I was told that she hunts guardians and kills them on day 149. I can appreciate guardian hunting and destroying, I just don't get the maliciousness of leaving it to day 149.
Yeah, I don't really get it either... I tend to stay away from portals that I think *might* be someone's guardian just so I don't get sucked into the drama in case it was. haha Personally, I think they need to take the Guardian badge out of the game. Just causes drama and bad blood with the people who care about getting it so much (just some pixels as far as I'm concerned). The ones I've run into that are the hardcore GP hunters I think tend to be people who can't get their 150 day GP so they decided since they can't get it, no one else can either. lol Me, I tell Resistance where my longest held portal is anytime it gets more than 100 days... I just like their reaction that I would tell them where my "coveted" portal is and how long I've had it. They just don't get how I couldn't possibly covet it. haha
