Pointing to a dynamic URL - waste of PageRank?

Take an example like this. We know that google does not show pagerank in the toolbar for things like non-SEOed phpBB forum pages:
    ex. http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=956 (shameless self promotion)

In the case above, it is an announcement for a new release, but it seems like I would be better off creating a new non-phpBB page and posting external links to that, instead of linking as I did above.

It seems that even if the above page did rank as a result of external links (as above), it would not get pagerank, and therefore could not pass it to other pages.

What are your thoughts on this?

links like that can get and pass pagerank, I've got DP threads that gave me PR (showed up on google link:) with the same type of URL.

you could always mod rewrite - some people are against it. I use it and took precautions to ensure google will only find 1 url to the threads.

    Hello dvduval

I have a Australian Travel website that is almost 99% dynamic. It has plenty of quality links pointing to dynamic pages with query strings in the URL. It took some time for my Dynamic pages to register pagerank, as well as backlinks for my other sites.

Although your dynamic link will, i believe, in time receive PR and be of value for your cause. I would suggest creating a static .htm file if your after a quick fix.
