Point new domain to my current domain?

OK so I have www.journeyoftheanimals.com. Kind of a mouth full and if I knew better then I would have gone shorter. But that was like 2 years ago and I am keeping it. But I came up with a .info name today that is shorter and much much easier to remember. My question is this. I can point it to journeyoftheanimals.com right? Like if someone types in name.info it will just go right to my current page at journeyoftheanimals.com

I am starting to worker harder on my page and barely have the right time for the one page and would not want to start up a whole other page. If there is anything I need to consider when doing something like this then please let me know.

I'm a little confused with your approach. You mention that you are keeping the 2yr old domain name then why register another name that you want to have directed to your 2yr old domain name. Firstly, how will people know to type in the new name in order to get to the original site (that original site retaining it's domain name (url) in the browser address bar). Normally, it's the other way around.

Anyway I answered another thread the other day relating to redirecting from one site to another, this may help http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=10721501&postcount=2 .

You can just buy Domain Forwarding for the new Domain i.e the .info one that you have..

Nevermind. It appears what I was looking for is "parking" the new domain on the old one. So now if you type in www.journeyoftheanimals.com you get to my website and also if you type in petchat.info you come to my site.

I just happen to come up with the petchat.info and liked the name of it so I wanted to snag it up. Also figured I might as well have it point some where for now.

You can set your domain at domain alias or parked domain to the existing domain. This way you can point your new domain to the existing website.

Maybe he wants to say on his site something like "you can now access this site via the url petnames.info!" for convinience, nothing to do with building the domain, that's how I saw it anyway.

That is basically exactly what I am doing for now. So instead of only being able to get to my site by typing journeyoftheanimals.com you can not get to it by typing in petchat.info.

    Two ways to do that:-

    1. Forward the new domain to your existing domain and that's what ruchidomains.com to ruchiedomains.com does.

    2. If your host allows parked domains, simply add it and the new domain will automatically load your site on the old domain.

    Hope it helps you friend.
