POET? Poetry Writer?

Are you a Poet, Poetry Writer, or write your own limericks?

:) Would you like to see it published and have many others enjoy it. If so, give me your input. On my free article directory, currently averaging about 6,000 views a day, I can do so. I could set up a category called “Poetry Collection.” Whenever you put more than 450 words together ( a combo of poems), you could make a submission. Just let me know if there is any interest. Yes, even best beer limericks, as long as “G” rated.

Who knows, you may even have blogs pick up your poem (with your credits) appearing on their blogs. A paid poetry writer, why not? Get your word out.

    Hi,
I used to write limericks and other poetry, but these days?

My "poetry" is copywriting. I'm continually amazed at how closely well-written, compelling copy resembles poetry. Each word has to be spot-on so it bypasses the prospect's "It's an ad. Quick - toss it!" mental alarm.

Writing the perfect headline is every bit as challenging as writing a limerick or haiku. Arranging the elements in a homepage is every bit as challenging as deciding the correct order of poetry lines.

This is why so many copywriters get paid big bucks; why a top-quality sales page makes readers exclaim, "I could've written this in my sleep!" and "I read the whole thing - just couldn't put it down."

That's the real secret of compelling copy. It involves knowing your target audience inside-out. It involves the ability to use a Thesaurus to find the best every-day word (not the most impressive five-syllable word) that your target audience would use.

So - write poetry? You bet. But not the kind that rhymes. I write the kind that sells.

Just so you know, I'm a activity leader on a Poetry site that has over 2000 active members. You've got to be very careful when getting into this area. A lot of people rip off poems and it's easier to do it because it's poetry and might not get noticed as fast. If you do this, you should have some kind of software that picks up and rejects plagiarized poetry.

Dreaming Big, I could appoint you as a moderator for that section. A human with your experience could do better than any software I know of. Eliminate the plagiarized, while adding a positive comment to the best. I like to see when a person uses their own thought process to creatively string words together. I am not a poet, but I enjoy creating idioms, often adding them to an article. I just made a new a poetry category, because I like an article directory to bring out the best in a writer's personal talents.

Dot: You are right on the money. Also, I bet you are proud of your accomplishments. You are right, the exact place is a science, and the ideal wording is an art to compose, that is why almost 60% of articles and homepages do not spur or compel the reader to finish reading. I have a personal "library" of 2,300 words and phrases I have collected during all the years. All are power words with emotional impact on the reader. Thanks for your share, true professionalism!

OMG, another word-o-phile! I have a gigantic notebook 3 1/2" thick that is crammed with words/phrases! I totally love finding effective, powerful phrases and eye-ball-yanking headlines to add in.

PS - the font for my copywriting words and phrases notebook is... Garamond, 9 point. And I use 3 columns per page. ;-)

    Limerick of 450 long-stretched words,
Believe me, that can only be written by nerds.
I'll ask Perry what he thinks,
Should it be full of 3,000 links.
Till then please let me enjoy my curds.

Senobia... I love her dimpled cheeks,
And also her red colored lips.
Perry can start his raves and rants,
Cause beer is only what he wants.
And Dorothy, what about the promised sweets?

A Dollar an article is all that they shout,
Believing falsely that they have the clout.
Dorothy explains about copies that are compelling,
She loves rhymes, but her target is selling.
Forgive me please if I have caused any doubt.

    Dyadvisor, Dyadvisor, pity take,
Poetry shall me never make. :D

Trying is half the journey done,
Or as they say... "well begun."
    Yes, you're right, I had a go,
Simply cause the others did not show.

I'm a poetry writer and currently write poems at unitedworldpoets.com. Good poetry directories are needed.
