Hello Ok, I, like most people here, get the normal spam PMs from no posting members, I just forward them to a mod and it is fine. However, I sometimes buy links and sponsor wordpress themes from the link sales section here at DP. It seems that most of the time when I sponsor or bid on themes, unrelated people seem to PM me asking if I will sponsor their theme and send me a link to their thread. Does this count as PM spam? I forwarded one to a mod, but the member is still here and I don't know if it actually counted or if action was taken. Calum
The only caveat I would add is to make sure you haven't requested the information in a thread and forgotten about it. It happens. Sometimes it can be a week or two before someone gets back to you.
No, I am completely sure as well. Since, I have only started bidding on these again today after a month break and this one wasn't the one I placed a bid on. Thanks Calum
This has happened to me too and if I'm not interested I usually hit the dump button or send a reply saying "no thanks, please don't PM again." I refrain from reporting them because they are usually senior(ish) members who are well established here. Of course that doesn't excuse them sending unsolicited PMs, but I figure what's the point in shit stirring by reporting them?
yes that's right... sometimes I ask the person to send me the URL of his/her thread to make sure I haven't asked for the info earlier from them..
Well before I got quite a few from members with like 200, 300 posts. This time the person had over 2000, after reporting they flamed me through PM calling me a child. I don't see any excuse in the fact that a member has 2000 posts so that they can send me pm spam and then flame me for it.
And a 2000 post member should really know better. The fact is that if you report someone with 2000 posts then some of them are going to feel aggrieved by you denting their ego. They might try and level the score at a later date - the reason I delete these PMs instead of reporting them.
One quick note. A spamming infraction is a five point infraction. One such infraction is sufficient for banning a new member but will not ban an older member since it takes ten infraction points for older member to be banned. (Age on DP has its privilidges.) A spamming infraction on an older DP member only results in a ban, if member already has five or more active infraction points.
