This is a winge I guess and a wish of mine, I am extremely glad that the freebie section is now free from social trades like digg and stumble upon and the inclusion of the under $5 to the freebies has added even more content to freebies - so it's starting to flourish .... how ever .... We need to do something about the 'PM me' for the link type threads, they are rediculous, some times they are as simple as "i know how to make $8000 a day" write PM me for the link", like this thread : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=771231 This thread is an extreme case and insists on the thread reaching 400 replies before he sends out the link to all those who have responded - rediculous. So basically is there a rule that states "Pm me" type threads aren't allowed ? or is it possible to enforce this rule with only legitimate threads allowed to post "PM me", sites for sale is Ok or maybe link sales, but threads that are just sending out affiliate links need to be stopped IMO. Sample Threads (from first page) : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=786565 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=779220 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=771231
this is a little screwed up. this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=771231 is a bullshit thread. the OP has stated he will not respond by PM until he sees xxx number of replies? what kind of crap is that? a mod needs to step up and close that thread.
Cool, I see the thread in example is closed already, thanks for the update. Nah not all eBooks, that'd be a bit silly, but all PM me type threads are annoying and just affiliate links. Soon it will be "See link in my signature" type posts, that beats the PM me types though.
What's not possible ? If you mean we can't have PM Me Type threads stopped, then I think you're wrong as it's as simple as writing the rules and stickying the thread, then deleting and passing around infractions for rule breakers. As for posts don't count etc. I don't think that's there motivation for PM Me threads - I believe the offenders are simply passing around affiliate links, so not adding to post count wont worry them. These types of threads also tend to stick around for days as the thread is always being added to - thanks to "PM Me" being added every hour - which is also a possible reason for asking for "PM Me" replies.
I also find it frustrating, also in the sites section people say "PM for URL", I also find that extremely annoying, during mu auctions I provide all info upfront and think all auctions should be this way.
I am new and to be honest, in the freebies section. After typing the typical "send me pm". Most if not all of reply-back to my private message box contains a deal that we already know, something not too special, and there is not even that huge free money they state, you pay like membership fee then wait the amazing profit. In my opinion, I stopped surfing that forum anyway, and I would participate in any survey to close this section or just deny that kind of topics. "See how I made XX$ free today? You can do like me.."
