Can we have some rule that posters have to post the URL of their site? They are the most annoying threads in the world. Page after page after page of "PM me the url". What's the point? If anyone can get the url through PM, then post the bloody thing. If you are worried about it being picked up by SEs, post an image of it, or use spaces between words/letters. Unless someone can give me a good reason for not disclosing the URL of a site for sale?? Personally, as soon as I see "PM me for the URL", I close the damn thread because I know I will have to not only request the url and wait for it, but wade through pages of crap to even see if there has been a bid.
They do it for publicity. If 20 people respond in the thread, it gets other people's attention and creates hype. It's rather annoying. Almost makes ya wanna PM the guy for the URL, then post it publicly in the thread, doesn't it?
In my experience, some of the posters have something to hide. If posted openly, their sites will not stand up to scrutiny.
Voted 5 stars for this thread. Indeed. They do it to get their thread bumped in most cases. Example: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=147408 Or to hide something as the above post mentions, especially if they were caught red handed before
I agree! same problem with the revenue stats: 'PM me for revenue, only serious buyers please' How the hell do you know if it is a serious buyer? Anyone can contact you via PM to ask revenue stats or traffic stats. So why not post it here. It will save you time Didier
You know, as I was typing it, I figured I probably should do a search. But I was annoyed and thought fuckit! I guess DP's lax attitude to listings means it won't be enforced. Not saying I want rules rules rules, like at SP, but ...
It's the exact same problem with link sellers as discussed here and elsewhere. It's a difficult rule to police but I do wish DP would introduce something requiring some form of URL disclosure in the OP.
The "PM the URL" is good for two things: 1. Gaining the peons minimium posts more quickly 2. For sellers who don't want the experts to review their sell Other then that it's meaningless....
I think this if seller use this word than those buyers who are not really interested in sale wont crack time to PM and bear it And only those buyers i mean not all but it happens most of times only serious buyers PM for the URL and stats this is my thought i amy be wrong
I believe 'PM for the URL' should be only used if you're selling pRon site, else it should be stated in the thread.
