Plurals in keywords. How does Google deal with them?

Hi there. I'm just wondering how Google rankings are affected by whether or not my targeted keyword is singular or plural. Say for instance the keyword I am targeting is Pork Pie Hat. On another site a webmaster is targeting Pork Pie Hats. If someone searches for Pork Pie Hats will Google automatically give his site the nod (all other things aside) because it exactly matches the keyword, or does Google completely ignore the pluralization, and rank the search results by other merits?

Google will give it to the "exact match" first. Then yours.

This is important if you are doing PPC. Many times there is a huge difference between the singular & plural of the keywords;)
