I am comtemplating setting up a site for a one-word niche. As usual, quite a number of two-word domains available, and all the one-word domains taken. But to my surprise, the plural of the keyword is available. The plural form is just an additional 's' (not -ies or -es). But the problem is, the plural form of this keyword is almost never searched for. Entering the plural keyword into Overture Suggestion Tool shows nothing! WordTracker of course gave me keywords in singular form. So is it advisable to use this plural keyword as my domain name? From a SEO point of view, any negative impact even if I use the keyword in singular form throughout the site? If you were me, would you rather get a two-word domain? Thanks in advance!
If the plural makes sense than go for it ... to me if it is not searched before than it will make no sense.
Thanks for the input guys. I believe the plural word does makes sense. My guess is that the keyword is so niche that the plural word is seldom used. But of course, I cant be too sure. A search on google shows about 2,000,000 results for the singular form, and only about 600 for the plural form. Hoping to get more input on this. Please let me know your views. Thanks!
I hate the old plural and synonym issue. Don't get me started about dashes/hypens. I hate going after a domain and then realizing there are a couple of close domains you also need to buy to ward off competition capitalizing on your name. As for plural? Get both or whichever one is more natural sounding. SB
Overture combines singular/plural keyword versions, so Wordtracker would be a better guide to see if the plural version is searched...
Hi SB, maybe I wasnt clear enough. The singular form of the keyword is already taken. Leaving me only the choice of: 1. Plural form of the keyword 2. Hypenated/joined-2-words keyword Wordtracker(trial) only showed the singular form, thus I believe the plural form is seldom searched for. And thus my dilemma in whether to choose the nicer-looking plural keyword, or the hypenated keywords. I want to know if choosing that plural keyword, which is seldom searched for, will negatively affect my SEO.
