plugin wishlist

I find that often I need to install multiple plugins to get all the functionality and features that I need. This can be very annoying especially if some plugins don't work with the newer WP version.

So I decided that I will write my own super duper plugin that can do everything that I want it to do.

If you could have a super duper plugin that can do anything you want (within reason of course) what would be on your wishlist?

Right I am starting slowly and with the basics first.

So looking at a page the <head> comes first so I am adding some code to add various things to the head like Google verification codes, author, publisher, keywords, description etc.

So this will give control over the head. One plugin to do them all.

Now will look at other things

One plug in that does everything? Not a good idea.
What makes WordPress so great to use is the fact that you can install, adjust, and set individual functions on demand. Using the best parts of some and not others. In other words, we don't want everything all in one. We want to customize it the way we want it, functions included.

One plug in that combines multiple functions will be a nightmare for anyone to use and even worse for developers and service providers to edit specific functions.

Also, you will never be able to come up with a consensus of what functions are "the most popular". It's different depending on everyone's needs. Every website doesn't have the same needs, therefore I don't use the same plug ins on all of them.

What someone who has been using WordPress for 5 years thinks is important, compared to what a noob thinks is important are completely different.

Lastly, I suspect some of what you are going to do is reinvent the wheel of existing plug ins that are working just fine the way they are. As a service provider, I would never use a plug in so big that it incorporates multiple, unrelated functions. It is sure to be bloated and include somethings that I don't need...therefore, just activating such a behemoth means that I'm running stuff that I don't need. And for people on shared hosting, which already has limited resources, it's going to be too much.

With WordPress, less is more. Not more is more.
