You can get good digi camera of any brand for e.g. nikon,kodak etc. in this price range. Searh through net for the same. DON.
ha yes , you can choose the basic version in sony cameras since sony has best electronic device like panorama sweep shot and cyber shoot which is not available in other modles

In my opinion camera brand have to consider first. You can go with any of reliable brand like sony, canon, nikon & find one that go with your budget.
Go to local shops to try and get the price down on their products, because with a budget like that you dont want to be paying costs associated with online shopping like delivery, etc. Also it allows you to barter.
There are some tips to buy a perfect camera. First you should confirm that how much features are available which camera you have chosen like, mega pixels Optical zoom (not digital) ISO higher ISO values mean you can take photos in lower light.(it is better if ISO is very high like 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 / 6400 / 12800) Movie recording better if HD Shutter speed a fast shutter speed can freeze action while slow speed can blur your image. Photography functions like, Face Detection, Auto red-eye removal, Power management, Frame No. memory, Silent mode and much more features should be in a digital camera.
