Well thats interesting. Where have you read or heard that black doesnt convert well? What about other colors than white? I bet theres a whole study on this. The background on my affiliate blog is black so Im curious. My conversions seem to be on track as a newbie, I should know more in a few months from now. Either way, the background, colors etc most likely dont make as much of a difference as the actual content. Of course it should look nice enough so that the bounce rate is low. p.s.: I kinda like that greyish background on your site but not sure if the 100$ header should be grey too.
It depends on how your design is, the matching of colours etc. As for your site, the banner put it offs, what's with the thick gray border, making it outstanding? But yea, other than that it's looking okay, a classic layout.
