Ploease explain Facebook & Twitter marketing

In my other thread asking how to get traffic many replies recommended Facebook and Twitter but gave no details so I made a dedicated thread.

What did these replies mean by using Facebook and Twitter? Does it just mean posting a link to my website on the wall of my personal page for friends to see or is there more that can be done with Facebook to send traffic to my site?

And I know nothing at all about Twitter so I would need even more details about how to get traffic with Twitter.

    Thanks

All social media are more on creating trust and relationship. That's the golden rule before you sell them anything.

It depends the route your going after on facebook.

    1. Paid (you would need to identify something to market and create ads and manage your cpc (cost per click) )
We have some guides for facebook ppc if you would like more information please contact me.

    2. Building a Fan page is a great way to build a laser targeted list which you can email affiliate offers to and make money.

I would have a look at youtube as a source as well. Super easy to get targeted traffic from youtube.

    Have a productive weekend!

One of the things I do for clients is create a Facebook fan page and use Facebook Ads to drive traffic to the page and get fans. In the Info tab I add the client’s website address. This is a quick way to drive traffic to my client’s website. I always notice a big jump in website traffic when I’m running a Facebook Ad campaign. I also do SEO for my clients, but I like the quick response I get from Facebook Ads. There is another advantage of driving traffic to a fan page instead of directly to the client’s website. Once a person likes the page, you can continue to communicate with that person through wall posts and start building a relationship with them.

Yes you can create a Facebook fan page and promote it so that people like it and you get more visitors/customers. Same goes with Twitter where you can follow people with similar interests and they in turn follow you and start visiting your site. However all this takes time, and the key here is not to spam your links otherwise people would be turned off. You can also use services from fiverr and similar sites to get FB likes & twitter followers faster. You can also use video marketing and create a channel on youtube for your niche and post videos to get more traffic/sales.

    Good luck,
    Anup

Definitely agree with Anup about avoiding selling too much on Social Media. Our general rule of thumb is to provide 90% good content and 10% sales. Using Facebook Pay-per-Click (PPC), we usually start getting Likes within a few hours of getting our Facebook Ad approved. Much faster than trying to rank on the Search Engines. SEO is still very important for getting consistent traffic long term, so SEO is still a big part of our business.
