The best I can give you for sellers using Plimus is http://www.plimus.com/store.html . This is not representative of all their vendors as some of us do not place all our products public.

As for competing systems, Digital River is their biggest competitors which has Shareit.com, Regsoft.com, Regnow.com , SWReg.org and ccnow.com under their umbrella.

I am here to support plimus.
I am also using plimus and it is simply great. On time payments, great credit card processing system, great support. Also variety of payout options. I just wish that plimus start support other BASE currencies like EURO or GBP soon. This is biggest lacking feature in them. For this reason i signed up with DR's SWREG as I wanted to receive payments in another currency than USD

I have also used DigitalRiver's SWREG and wont recommend you that or anyother DigitalRiver's services.
DR's all systems do cheap tactics. They try to over charge your customers to keep more money for themselves. Like if your customer order, they will put into shopping cart "Extended download functionality" or "Registration backup service" and most of the clients pay for that although none needs it or know about it. If you ask DR to turn this option off for your account, they charge extra 3% commission over the original commission just to turn it off. I feel this is cheap tactic.

Further SWREG credit card processing system is also not a state of art. Many client's credit card gets declined although there is nothing wrong with them. Those cards are accepted on 2checkout or plimus gateway but fails on SWREG. THUS you loose sale or your clients suffer. I even tested it by ordering online from a site using SWREG. It didnt authorize my credit card although there was nothing wrong with it and everything was in order.
You cannot do anything about it because when you contact SWREG, they just say that the credit card is fraud and our system is fine.

Sometimes your payments are delayed for over a month and they also lie about it that they had sent payment on time and it is lost somewhere between banks.
Whenever a payment is sent out, bank puts a timestamp on it, even if it gets lost for more than a month, when it reaches its destination the timestamp can confirm when it left originating bank. My payments were twice delayed and when I received instructions after a month, it said that they left originating bank just a week ago.
Once - just to confirm that SWREG lie, I updated my bank instructions after a week of payout date, and I got my wire on the updated details instead of details that were in system at the week of payout. This was the biggest proof that they were lieing. If they had sent payment out on 15th (or even at 19th) it must have reached the same old bank BUT it reached by new bank details after a month. They said that delay is not their fault and it was bank's glitch.
For over a month SWREG kept money to get interests on it.

I guess DR's all companies share same features like "extended download service" or "registration backup service" gimmick as well as credit card processing so all should be reconsidered before signup.

You cannot have Chargeback protection as long as you are dealing with the real world especially with credit cards as the bank have the final say. Chargeback works against any payment processor and they lose their commission when that happens and it is not in any way in their own interest. Payment Processors can only submit their appeal against a chargeback but the final say is with the bank.

The only way you can get chargeback protection is to remove the credit card element and go towards cash or checks.

In business as they say, the customer is always right. If the customer does not have a level of protection then he may not be comfortable dealing with you.

In plimus, the basic currency remains in USD. Even if you are paid in EURO, it will be converted into USD and then at the time you are sent wire it is again converted from USD to EUR to send you EURO wire.

In short words, basic currency is always USD in plimus. That is the only drawback and the reason I look for other processors.
