Hello, I have about 15k weight for my account. i have about 20 ads using the weight. but every day my impressions have been dropping for the last 1-2 weeks. my weight is a combination of consolidated weight. i did remove the ads from the site this particular account was setup on. so i am assuming that is the only reason this would happen. is that correct? i am really trying to understand this. Please help. thanks all.
Weight and impressions aren't connected. One day your ad could show on a high traffic homepage whilst the next day it could be on an obscure PR0 12 tiers away from the homepage that gets 1 unique every quarter.
that is odd because the EXACT same thing happened across about 25 keywords. could it be the catergory that my keywords are put in. they are in the other catergory. please help. thankx.
Also, but I may be wrong on this one, while the co-op is growing your weight, if it stays the same-ish, will mean less overall. So when others sign up, your 'share' declines hence less impressions. If high PR pages in low quantity join that means more weight enters the co-op than adspace does hence relatively less space available for those in the co-op.
well. we are talking about keywords getting 5k+ impressions a day all the way down below 100 for over 25 keywords. something is not right there
It's pretty common in my book. Sit it out. I have yet to see a serious coding error by Shawn so I really doubt something significant is going on.
Impressions have been a bit wacky due to PR being down. I was a lucky one and validated right before the PR issue. Others may have seen their weight drop severely during that. We would just be feeling the effects now. Also as T0PS said its dependant on the total weight of the network which as I have said was inconsistent due to the PR downtime.
That's not exactly right... the impressions will stay roughly the same as a whole, just spread between more sites.
Also if a small pagecount high PR site joins? It would get proportionally a high weight, hence can claim proportionally a lot of adspace whilst not contributing much adspace in terms of quantity. So all in all the available adspace only increases a bit but the weight allocated increases more hence less adspace available per individual on average. Right? Or not
Somewhat, but there are so many sites in the network, that it would be pretty much as unmeasurable difference for just one (or a couple sites). Also, PageRank isn't *that* big of a factor. The site with the highest weight in the ad network is a PageRank 4 for example.
Yeah I guess it requires a real odd combination of factors for my theory to become reality. Yfs1 seems to have the clue here, I forgot about the PR shenanigans.
