WinkCart.com is a simple PayPal store creator I created in the past weeks. It's currently in alpha status and potentially with some bugs. If you could give it a try and let me know your ideas, that'd be awesome. It's rather useful too! Oh, and I created a demo product priced at just $0.01, http://www.winkcart.com/store/phpscripts/demo-product/ Anyone care to venture a test by purchasing that product?
This looks like an awesome product! I just signed up for an account to test a few things out, here is what I think so far... You could definitely benefit by making the entire thing 'secure'. Go through the steps of becoming a paypal authorized site and think about an SSL certificate or something similar. I didn't complete the entire account creation process because, well, I simply don't trust your site enough to give you my paypal details. I think an important feature that you need to add to your site would be that you host all the files for sale. As it stands now the user has to tell you what link to forward to the buyer once a sale is made. It currently looks like it can only be a static URL. The problem with that is that if I am selling 25 website templates, only one person has to buy it and then post the link where they downloaded it online and now anyone can access the files and get them for free. So, create some way to store the files and create a random, unique, one time link that will expire after the file is downloaded. The email confirmation link that was sent to me was extremely long... like 4 lines of text. It worked, but it just seemed weird. The confirmation came fast as did the follow-up once my account was created.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, MmmDesign! I'm sure going to add an SSL and other stuff to make the site more trustworthy in future when there are more people using the app but for now, I don't have much money to invest in it yet. Actually this site requires NONE of your paypal details or credentials or whatsoever. Just give it the only thing what you would normally give to your buyers - your PayPal business email - so you can receive payments, that's all. So no worries about that. You are right on the delivery part. As I planned for this to be a free application, taking on the extra bandwidth bills would be really unwise, especially if it goes popular. You can imagine that. But I will definitely go with your advice if it goes commercial after being thoroughly tested in this free and simple version. Now the piracy part. My original idea was to create a tiny login (username & password pairs) on the fly after confirming the payment from the buyer. He then logs in to download the stuff he has purchased. However, I eventually decided to use this on a membership site creation app rather than this one. If the person who bought the product and want to share it on warez, there's essentially nothing you can do that could stop him. He can do it any way no matter what you do. So I thought I'd leave it to the morals of the buyer and try my best to detect any such attempts - 1) the merchant can modify the download link from time to time, 2) the number of downloads for each order is logged to detect potential pirate leaks. Thanks again for your input!
I ran through the page with no errors. Everything seems to work smoothly. Good luck with your product. If you want input on anything else with the site, Let me know. Also, I would appreciate it if you could review my site I just posted. Thanks! http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1787776

Just created a product sales page on winkcart.com: http://www.winkcart.com/store/phpscripts/foo-business-website-template/ It's a web template I have created and put on sale here.
