I wanted to know is the social networks are working in traffic generation at your blog or business ?? In my case it's seems all about crap and time waisting strategies because having 6500 twitter follower and 567 facebook fan page followers who likes my posting and even comments some time but no one is trying to come and watch at mine original and home site. You should check my online status and then try to find out the problems that must be there at any corner if you all are experiencing something different.
Twitter and FB were created so people didn't have to go out and get their information. If you leave it all for them to see within those networks then their is no incentive. I would run a contest, or some sort of newsletter special to try and get those "fans and followers" to become actual visitors to your website.
This is a good idea. Also there is a website called "inside facebook" that has hundreds of case studies on facebook marketing. Don't post information on FB or twitter that you can't get on your website. Also, look at the new old spice commercial. The idea for it was great, but what has made it take off is the actor responding in video form to visitors comments.
yeah I also think the idea of making contest for them can work as we want and they all should have the information regarding about what we writes and gives if any service site is there.
I have ran a contest before with very successful results. Gave away several copies of an iPhone video game (the game developer was happy to send several free "iTunes redeem codes") which was only worth about $2-3 anyway. So it proves you don't need an expensive prize or anything like that. Link your Twitter followers to the contest post on your site and then say "comment here so we can contact you by email if you win" or something similar. People like free stuff and they'll check out your site, enter the contest and maybe browse around and subscribe to RSS or bookmark it etc.
How often are you "teasers" out to social media profiles (twitter & facebook), is it multiple times per day? You need to consistently show your crowd that you have something they want, offer expertise on a field/topic they are interested in, flaming.. (hey, it sends traffic too!), or something fun & intriguing. Are you doing any of these?
