Please tell me about Keywords

I'm new to Internet Marketing.And recently I have started my first blog.Can someone please tell me what are the characteristics of good keywords?And many times in discussions I see long tail keywords please explain what is meant by long tail ?

 

the best keywords are the ones that people search for the most with the least amount of competitor websites. My definition of Long-tail keywords is keywords that are longer usually 3-5+ words. Just put yourself in the shoes of a consumer and think what you would search for if you were looking for certain products and services.

 

Thanks for your quick reply.So if a user types in google"How to cook italian food" then this whole sentence is a long tail keyword.Am I right or not?

Keywords should be relevant to website theme and services. Long tail keywords are like " how to start internet marketing" or which includes 4-5 words.

keyword is the main thing for a website or blog. it refers to the topic that you are interested and going to work with. the keywords must have to be placed in your contents and sites everywhere.
