Hey, im back after a long time! I have set up a small site which im trying to updae frequently so that it becomes big, its a freeware games website, im aiming to get 100 games up by the end of next week, please give me some comments and suggestions. http://playbegins.com Thankyou Kibeth
Hi there - I took a look at your site and would recommend the following from a web design perspective: 1. Make sure you test your site in all browsers - I clicked into some of the games in Firefox and the content spills out of that content area you have. At least it does for some (i.e. http://playbegins.com/index.php?page=satansam) 2. I'd put a little something more on your home page - it looks very blank and at first glance I would ask myself "hmm... what IS this site for?" and the click away because it doesn't look finished. 3. Add contact information if you want to - otherwise take that page off yoru navigation. 4. On the pages where you rate your different games - maybe add a little bit of graphics and formatting - like you have your rankings -- with just text numbers. What about using colored bars or scales? Just to add a little bit of interest and separate it from the text of the review? 5. What about having little thumbnails of the games on the main category pages as well as on their detail page? Just looking to add a little interest to the pages so that a viewer would be willing to stay on your site and poke around? There are a few suggestions for you. I do a lot of web design so my suggestions come from that standpoint. If you had more pointed or specific requests about the type of feedback you want, let me know... glad to help more. Cheers!
Yep, im adding content as fast as i can, would it be sensible to put ads on this site, a few people have advised me against it. Any more comments?
It depends on your ultimate goal for the site -- but from what I've seen so far I would use Adsense or maybe do an affiliate program. If you have a site where you're promoting one product or trying to create a trustworthy site about one service - then I wouldn't use ads like that... but for yours, I probably would.
