Please take a look at my site, its my first one ive made so its still a bit rough around the edges any comments are very welcome (good or bad) http://www.yourtutes.com
I dont think it looks rough at all. The only thing I would say, is there seems to be too much empty space to the sides of your adverts at the top.
I meant to say that the box that contains the adverts is a lot bigger than the adverts, so there is too much space to the sides, and that makes it look a little bit untidy.
Very nice for first site. I'd recommend to add some colors (like "navy" header and side menu links) - design-related sites should look more ... alive?
In my opinion it looks fine for the first attempt. I`m a newbie and I`d like to create such a site myself.
It seems okay... I don't like the graphics in the center though... I know they're basically threads... however, they need some flair or zing... or something standoutish... ^_^ Unless you're planning on building the site around advertisements! B/c it did push me to the ads more than it did the site lol.. otherwise, its a nicely built site... maybe put some AJAX on it for dynamics..
okay.. on a second look of your site... you need a better logo... that kind of kills it!!!!!!!!!!! Try putting more assertiveness into the logo part.. it seems to basic and made me too bored to go much past that originally!
Hi nice site, I would monetize this site a little bit with some CPM from globalinteractive.com and google CPM . For PPC I would replace the ads by google with some adbrite and bid advertiser ads. On this site I would go with adbrite or the other because the payouts are lower, meaning you'll get paid sooner.
I'd say that's a mighty fine job for your first time around. Good for you!! I'm not going to comment on the more subjective elements of web design as that's not my thing and I know others are much better at that. I would be careful on how you've set up your CSS. I did not look at each file but I know that you have a few and that might be unwieldy. May I suggest some good books on CSS? See http://joyofcode.com/bookstore_css.htm abd especially the one called Cascading Style Sheets: Designing for the Web. It's an industry classic. Not bad but needs more colour, I wasnt sure what the site was for some time! Get to the point quickly and make it less nuetral with some eye catching titles! Not bad for attempt one!
