i've been using hostgator.com, great prices and really easy to set up. i think a majority of people on here also use them, just get the cheapest plan. it's monthly.

Please specify your budget, type of website and if possible the size of website.
You must consider 2 things while choosing a hosting - qualified prompt support & age of the company in industry.

    Good luck.

    Hi Annieblogger,

Things you might want to specifically consider may include -
    1. Space / Disk Storage
    2. Bandwith
    3. Features
    4. Type of Site (e-commerce, online journal, etc.)
    5. FTP Access
    6. Price

I'm using Vexxhost.com, and been with them for 3 years now. A happy customer, and so far their service is still exceptionally excellent -

:: 99.99% uptime servers, I haven't experienced (never, so far) downtime with them.
:: Prompt and personalized customer support - which like memories89, i consider it as an important factor.
:: Well, to count, they've been in the industry for 5 years now.
    :: Affordable prices too.

hmm.. unless you have special complex requirements requiring huge amount of disk space and MMFPEG features, the features in their "Starter" package would be good for a start, i think?

    Hope it helps!

    Cheers!

Do your research before you sign up for any hosting. Hosting is a long term relationship. So compare and get the plan to suit your need, be it big or small.
