How do you measure success? For my personal blog I have achieved from zero to almost 2000 visitors yesterday in less then a month. For me that is success. I haven't earned anything but that wasn't my intention. My second blog is specifically about zero investment website development. I've earned about $13 in a month. I do not call that success. But I still learn.
We started our DCM project on a zero budget. We created the designs necessary to create the website. Set up an automated ordering system integrated with PayPal (free) and started taking orders. Once we started getting orders, we then needed to purchase supplies, such as the paper for printing the dollar cards and special ink to closely match U.S. currency. Marketing so far has also been zero. I've written an article and submitted to about 150 article directories, search engine submission, a post on our blog (which is actually outperforming our own domain name on some key words), forum introductions and responses. Still being a relatively new site, we have a lot of work to do in this department. But we've also just started our own affiliate program (this is the only money we've spent so far - $99 for the affiliate software) and have had some good fortune with our affiliates promoting our site for us in various directions. So far, we've seen several orders and have registered a healthy profit. I would say that this has been, and will continue to be, a success.
