I'm having about a 1% conversion rate on this site. www.eyeglassesinternational.com I'm high in top10 serp for most keyword and get about 500 visitors a day, most of them search for the term eyeglasses. Tell me what you think might be wrong with the design

Well ... the first thing that catches my attention or your homepage is that huge picture and a lot of text I don't really want to read. Instead don't you think people should first notice what you are offering. If this is my site I would certainly give them more buying options straight from the home page (with pictures). Or at least direct them to such a place.

I am sure you have had a list of tips before.

What Do-Review says is right, If you land on this page you want a selection of products not wasting your time with a big image and bulk text. Use the best products you have on offer where the image should be, with small descriptions etc.
Move that chunk of text down and tone down the background so the products stand out.

Hi nice site a few things you need to sort is where it says

    Welcome to Eyeglasses International!

you need to sort the text and paragraph out and take it of justify and put default also split the text in 3 paragraphs.

text on the footer needs to be correct font and a few images to be sorted

but other then that is will look ok

I am a US citizen and the domain name makes me wonder if you are located outside the US = less likely to buy from you, since I view eyeglassess as a health product and I haven't made the leap that it is OK to buy outside the US.

The site doesn't look as professional as other eyeglass sites that I have viewed in the past - poor colors, degrades under my browser and screen resolution, etc.

How can you offer a high index choice and plastic or glass- these are contradictory choices?

By the way, monocular pds are recommended for no-line bifocals.

I'd have a problem selecting a frame from this site. I'd like to see the frame on someone's face. Can't you get pictures of the frames on models from the manufacture?

Put the frame on an attractive model, male or female, and people will buy because they want to look that good. I've never bought a frame without putting it on my face and looking in the mirror. I'd might buy if I could see it on anyones face, but I'd never buy otherwise.

good point, I haven't found a programmer to program the interface such as www.eyeglasses.com or www.framesdirect.com at a good price, they have a tryon feature where you can upload your own picture and try that frame on your face or any of the faces they have.

since I don't want to change the domain what would you recommend to help with that problem. I'm in the process of redesigning the site soon, maybe I can find someone to program me a interface to try on the eyglasses

Certainly state up front that you are a US based company - maybe even mention your location. You can either appeal to the same customers as the big eyeglass sites and upgrade your site significantly or try for a niche market (e.g., super low prices).

Some things that stand out for me
    - The images of the glasses on the home page are of poor quality - makes the site look shoddy
    on the product detail page:
    - the drop down lists are misaligned = looks bad. what about putting the labels on top of the controls?
    - the button to purchase is below the fold = hard to find

I would put contact information on every page, change the header so it says something about your business and makes me want to stay on the site.

All the pictures are fuzzy and unclear and as someone else said if you use a model it would make the glasses look a lot better.

I would play with some different color backgrounds, the dark blue I do not like.

I would remove paypal for when it is time to pay and not have it on my home page.

    Just my two cents. :)
