The Weekend Chef is a new recipe website that has over 340,000 food and 9,000 drink recipes online and over 150 pdf cookbooks in our library.

Until Jan 23, 2008 we have a free membership available so that we can build up a membership base. I would like some reviews of the site so I can find out what I am missing. After working on this thing for several months I know a lot must have slipped by.

    The Weekend Chef also includes"
    http://thevegetarianweekendchef.com
    http://thedietingweekendchef.com
    http://thediabeticweekendchef.com
and naturally http://theweekendchef.com which is the main site.

To sign up for free you will need the coupon code on the sign up page.

I look forward to your reviews and thank you.

well first off your membership coupon is expired...

Also I would personally like to see more images of dishes perhaps and the header maybe a better more high quality image.. and a nav bar maybe on the left? something that shows off even more of your content and makes people want to sign up.

Images would be just about impossible to add as there are over 340,000 recipes and the various sources did not have pictures of the dishes, although that would be a great idea.

As for the Nav Bar, are you talking about the database navigation or the web site?

Your last comment I would love to get some ideas. I have been kind of been lost for ways to really promote everything that the site has to offer without giving away the farm so to speak. We do offer a free membership which has limited access to the databases, cookbooks, articles etc, but being able to showcase the benefits would be great. Just don't know how to do that yet.

I appreciate your quick review. Now to research ways to implement some of the ideas.

The coupon should be good. I did upgrade your account so you do have full access. Thanks again for your review

Good site. Very helpful. Some changes will make it better though.

Site looks nice, blog entries are well-written and interesting. To be honest, I am not willing to go through the registration process right now, and that is the major problem I see with your site: There are just too many free recipe websites out there - I have my favorite one, too, never use anything else. Why should I register or even pay for recipes?

Maybe you should open the database to anyone, but limit free access somehow. What about "5 recipes are free every day"? Or special features (eg. voting, comments) for paying users?

Still not sure if this can generate any serious money except from banners.

Nice site but, it should have a few images of food on the home page.
