    Hi guys,

    Please review this two sites in this topic if they have quality to enter on dmoz:

    http://www.onlinecasinosplanet.org

    and

    http://www.onlinecasinoedition.com

    In your opinion, this two sites have quality to be listed on dmoz.org?

    I already tried add them on the correct category with non promotional text but the editor of the category not approve (I dont know why).

    The category that I tried to add them was:

    http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Guides/

    Waiting your opinions and reviews about this two sites and if they deserve to be listed on dmoz.

    Thanks

    Can you tell us why you think you have been rejected? Because DMOZ does not inform suggesters if their site is approved or not. Ah..you mean you thought that your site should have been reviewed by now and because it has not appeared it has been rejected.

    Did you read the sticky on the top of this section? Did you read any other threads on here? Or did you just come and post your question without bothering about if the answers were here already?

    I doubt if any editor will do a review on here, you might get none editors offering opinions. But you can work it out for yourself. Did you read the guidelines about sites, well if your track record on here is anything to go by I doubt it. You can read up here http://www.dmoz.org/docs/en/add.html. If your sites comply they will be listed, when a volunteer editor, working on their hobby, in their spare time, with no financial reward volunteers to review that section and chooses to use the suggestions pool as one of their resources. When will that be? No idea could be years.

    In my opinion, they not remotely close to be listable. No useful content; the reviews just serve to get affiliate commissions. Suggest you give up.

    You also obviously missed the terms you agreed to about not suggested related sites!

    I think this two sites not were approved because has passed quite a long time...

    Yes, I read all the guidelines and this two sites are in agreement.

    The best category for this two sites is:
    http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Guides/

    The Guidelines of this category say:

    OK. This two sites have unique and useful content.

    OK. The content of this two sites are original and unique.

    OK. This two sites have few affiliate links and are not the primary focus of the sites. In proportion is 90% of enough good content, with only 10% of ads.

    OK. Nothing of this. This two sites are ready, constant updates with new good content.

    I am also frustrated because in the same category (http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Guides/), I view others sites that fail in the guidelines (excessive affiliate links in homepage and/or with few content) that do not have enough quality to be listed.

    In my opinion this two my sites have more quality than many others sites listed on this category.

    When appears a new editor in this category, competent to make it cleaner and add only quality sites?

    No they don't. I find the content of the site to not be useful at all.
    The affiliate links are prominent and the sites primarily exist for them.
    In my opinion they don't come close.

    Why did you submit both sites? Did you not read the bit in the guidelines about related sites?

    (BTW, in case you missed it in other threads, I NOT an editor)

    Agent000, It took me over 6 months to build the base of each site, obviously they have quality in content and with constant updates.

    You didn't see this two sites completely or you are not player and has no interest on this niche, that are things completely different.

    In the Online Casinos Planet:
    • The visitors can find licensed and trusted online casinos with reviews;
    • The visitors can find more than 1500 land based casinos with address postal and phone numbers in several countries;
    • The visitors can play more casino flash games directly on the site without necessary register;
    • The visitors can view online videos related with real casinos and shows;
    • The visitors can find informations about gambling and casinos;
    • The visitors can find articles of the most popular casino games about how to play each game, strategies, tips, etc;
    • The visitors can find recent news about casinos and gambling industry;
    • The visitors on this site can find original and fresh content related with gambling and casinos.

    In the Online Casino Edition:
    • The visitors can find regulated and licensed online casinos with reviews, free bonus, etc;
    • The visitors can find informations related with casinos and gambling;
    • The visitors can find articles of casino games about how to play each game, strategies, tips, rules, odds and history of each game;
    • The visitors can find in total more than 70 original articles (in total more than 75000 words with useful content);
    • The visitors can find update news about online casinos and gambling;
    • The visitors on this site can find unique and useful content related with casinos and gambling.

    This two sites in proportion has much more content than advertising.

    Agent000, if you can take some of your time, please review the others sites listed on this category:
    http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Guides/

    For example this site casinos-online.co.uk have listing on this category (the editor dmoz of this category is owner of this site) and on this site you can see that in homepage have more advertising than content.

    Now you already understand my frustration?

    Agent000 is not an editor and whatever opinions s/he may have mean nothing. If you believe your site complies with guidelines then it waits in the suggestions pool until a volunteer editor volunteers, using the spare time and indulging their hobby, to review sites for that category and chose to use the suggestions pool.

    You may feel that your site has some sort of priority because you think it is better than the others, unfortunately that is not the criteria we use for selecting which sites get a review. The criteria is as above, this is a hobby for editors and our primary task is not to list your site it is to indulge our hobby and DMOZ cannot predict when an editor will volunteer to work in this area. If you are that frustrated, join the band of volunteer editors and do some of the work because no one will or could force an editor to work that section and no sites are listed without a review, so it waits and will wait until an editor volunteers to work there. It is the model DMOZ was set up on and the one it will continue on. If you want a fast review there are directories who charge and promise to give that, if you want a free review there sites set up just to give links and value to sites, please feel fee to use them, but DMOZ is different, it does not exist for site owners to get a site listed for whatevevr value it might add. It exists to create categories for surfers who want to use categorised data and it works on the hit and miss voluntary principal I have outlined and no amount of frustration or complaining will change that. It is what it is......and tell you the truth I think most editors like it that way. Do it differently and I think editors, including me, would walk

    I haven't studied the websites, (and I won't) but I have looked at your lists of claimed features above. To a first approximation, the two sites serve the same purpose and I don't understand why you actually need two. We don't list related websites and this is made very clear in the submission guidelines which you have agreed. One might be listable but both aren't.

    If comparable sites are not listable, then wouldn't it stand to reason that each and every category only has one site listed? Seriously, the deeper you get into categories, the closer the sites are related within that category.... to enforce such a rule across the board (which is in the guidelines about treating all sites fairly) then it does stand to reason that there are millions of sites that need to be removed (and by rights never added). But then, if the staff of AOL is leading by example, then the guidelines are completely out the window and anything is listable, so *shrug* does not really matter in the end does it?

    If you take the word of AOL, anything is listable (as the guidelines are totally optional).
    If you take the word of Anonymously (in other threads) it does not even matter where ya suggest a site, if it's in the wrong cat, editors will move it.

    So there ya have it, find the first category, suggest any site you have to it, and according to all editors, it'll site in the unreviewed queue for years till it's finally looked it.

    But back to the discussion...

    Again, if you are correct Jim, shouldn't all the sites in this this cat be removed (save maybe Digital Point).
    dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Chats_and_Forums/

    As seriously, they all serve the exact same purpose...

    Q seems to have misunderstood what I just said.

    If there are two or more websites on the same topic and in common ownership, they are related. We'd list one of them at most. Suggesting several related websites in common ownership is contra our submission guidelines (which also spell out the penalties that can be applied)

    Oh, sorry about that...

    This the part you were talking about I assume: Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.

    So, if I took a liking to a given subject & submitted several potential sites for inclusion, they would all be deleted, even though that is exactly what the given category is there for? Related sites?

    Mind boggling!

    Well, mind explaining how one would go about submitting more then one site to any given category without breaking that rule?

    I must say, I've never caught that before, and it all makes sense now. Anonymously was right, submitting to the wrong category will get you moved to the correct one... that old circular file numbered 86.

    So, if one is not an editor, yet wants to help the ODP out, but submitting sites that they find enjoyable, then what is really happening is that they are just getting all those sites deleted? That certainly is a good reason to become an editor! That way, one can just add them.

    I have multiple sites, all within a small area of topicality, assuming I bothered to actually submit them all, they would then all be deleted as per the rules. Correct?

    Now, assuming that makes sense based on me spamming my own sites, what would be the difference in that & someone finding 5 or 50 sites of a similar nature that they enjoy and submitting those. All those would then get deleted under the same rule, correct?

    Yes, mind boggling. No two ways about it.

    submit your site once, and ONLY ONE SITE, that is the real rule of DMOZ is it not?

    I was initially responding to the OP who owns two related sites that he thinks should be listed in the same category. I simply explained that not more than one would be listed.

    Q seems to be drifting what was initially a pretty focused thread to say that, on his interpretation of our guidelines, no category should contain more than one website and that no third party should suggest several unrelated relevant websites to the same category.

    He's clearly forgotten that he himself listed several websites in the same category during the brief period as an editor.

    His interpretation is quite evidently incorrect and probably mischievous.

    Just trying to make things clear.

    As the owner of the site should make no difference, neither should who suggested them.

    Yes, I did list several sites, but then, it's clear at the time I was not sure of the rules. Had I paid more attention, I'd have removed all the sites in the category accept one.

    Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.

    *shrug*

    If you say so, but keep in mind, you (and the guidelines) are the one(s) that said the ODP does not list related websites.

    DMOZ can take, as previously stated, from a few days to a FEW YEARS for a review.---

    Other directories, I am sure the section on DP will offer as many as you wish. You can always pay for Yahoo or BOTW to get a fast review. (I did say review not list)
