I made a site http://deb8.us which lets you conduct debates on various topics over twitter. It's been around for about 6 months but never could get much traffic on it. It gets about 5-6 visits per month (not including myself). I got some good articles on there, but people don't seem to want to contribute. I ask my friends, but they don't want to add articles to my site. They consider it better to put articles on their own site and make money from it. They said a wiki is like working for no pay. Maybe the concept just isn't as good as I originally thought it would be. I've actually implemented a ton of suggestions from people to make the site better, none of which has actually increased the traffic. Is my project hopeless - a lost cause? Any comments appreciated!
I think a way you could easily reach more people is tapping into the facebook army. Right now your just getting twitter people for your site, if you start reaching out to people on facebook you could easily increase your visitors to your site. To do this just make a group or a page for your website and make it so people would want to come to your site. I hope this helps you.
I agree with your friends, WIKI sounds like it is non-profit so you should get rid of that WIKI tag first. I don't see the wiki function either, people are putting their own ideas wiki should be objective and informative. Topics are interesting, design is ok. Increasing traffic doesn't happen in a day. You should create a monthly budget for marketing and promotion if you believe in your project. If not don't make any moves which you'll regret in the future. And yeah I agree with Codenman, why is it based on only Twitter? Topics are general so you should try adding opinions of BLOG OWNERS, Facebook etc.
Good site ... but i think you try to send ads for different emails about your site Just make an attractive ads which contains the main goal of your site and what's the useful and the interesting side on your site ... Try it maybe it's good Good Luck
I think if this was disconnected with twitter and be more of a social news site where people could just sign up the site would do better. The disclaimer about Twitter trusting this site made me decline in signing up.
