The logo has a web 2.0 look. you should put the logo in different coloured backgrounds to see how the logo looks on them. Also, you can some idea from my own design portfolio at ecoverexpert.com
Not relevant. I think most designers, the good ones at least think of logos as solutions and not just mere aesthetic elements.
I think the font on the "life" needs to change it's unreadable it looks like "lite" When I first saw yello blob it looked like an embryo/egg was this intentional? ALSO if it's data life you may want to think about doing a play on dna structure as this would tie into both meaning of life and meaning of storing data like dna stores human data
my fav eyenod.deviantart.com great inspiration he does logos for $300 including mascot but otherwise it's $200 for logotype
The gradient makes the top of the text look too washed out. A bigger problem is the particular script is not the easiest to read, especially given how the letters are kerned. Look away and then glance quickly at the logo. Is that an I and a T? Or is it a G? Does it have a Q at the beginning? If you even can possibly ask these questions, the typography need works.
I like the overall concept, but think the wording under the graphic should maybe be in grey (as graphic outline) to unify the whole logo - it would bring it all together. Another thing you might want to try is word-wrapping the 'black text' around the bottom shape of the graphic! - Just a thought, but good work - keep it up.
I think it is a very clean logo but doesn't help me understand what they do. It is important that it represents what the client does so it is memorable. Image if the client sold shoes and their logo looked like a computer. The branding of the idea is that they work in the computer industry not shoes.
I like the second one... The character is enough contrast with the background, so it is better eye catching. The first one, i can't read the character as soon as the second one. Your trademark will be hard to build.
