About two weeks ago the new http://affordabook.com was online after being in beta for a month. Affordabook is a comparison engine for books, whether it be textbooks or novels. Right now we work with about 16 partners, but in the following weeks a few more will be added (ebay for starters) Now that the site is up and functional there are a lot of things I would like to go back and do, including: Better keywords/SEO on the pages Cleaned up code/content pages Newsletter signup Contact form More homepage content As I get more time I will go back and fix/tweak all of the stuff I mentioned. Anywho I was hoping to get some opinions from the community here on how the site looks/feels/runs, and if you had any suggestions on how I could improve my site. Thanks, Vinnie
I really like the design! (Very clean, kind of reminds me of digg.. For your adsense header, why not remove the border? So it's blended in better with the site and you might recieve more clicks?
Thanks for the input, I will change the adsense to have no border. I am probably removing adsense all together this week anyway, as I'd rather do more affiliate ads and not adsense to drive visitors to our competition.
True, I think the earning potential with affiliates links is greater than adsense for your specific topic. To add: isn't there an option on adsense that blocks competitor links from your site? (or maybe I got that mixed up with bidvertiser..)
There is, but really most of the sites I would want blocked (any retailer, any comparison engine) which would limit it to content sites about books. I may consider blocking all of them out just to have diversity, but I will play around with some setups and see.
i like design looks pretty cool.good job. well done.keep up good work. overall looks professional and design looks clean.
Thanks for all the input (I also got a few IMs/PMs) hopefully within a week or two I can make a lot of the changes and improvements I want to do, as I have a very long list. I might post a topic about selling a few links/ads in the following weeks too if anyone is interested.
Just thought I'd give this a bump (it's been over a month) Some new features are being added this week, and I just noticed the layout is a little off in the new IE so I will take care of that tonight as well.
