I recently launched a forum and would like your reviews. The site is: www.bicycle-classifieds.com Its a forum/classifieds offering bike enthusiasts a place to discuss, sell/buy bikes, components etc..... A couple of questions I have: 1. Layout? How is it? 2. Color Scheme? 3. Content? I have videos, what else can I place for content? Games, related to bicycling? Maybe a blog? 4. Advertising? I would like to offer advertising space. 5. Logo? At the moment it is just a text "Bicycle Classifieds" Should I add some graphics? Thank you, J
Its a great website, very nice designed. The only thing I see is that it has too many categories, it will be impossible to keep everything organized.
Looks great - apart from the image on the right hand side which says "check us out & post" it seems a little out of place (google crome) also. with new forums its probably best to reduce categories so it doesnt look so empty and new... best of luck!
Yes, the categories are too many. Maybe a drop down of categories will do? Not sure how it works though but I guess that's one thing to minimize categories.
Thank you all for your insight! Very helpful! I'll delete or at least condense the categories and keep them to a minimum. Can always add categories as the site grows. As for the picture on the upper right hand side which says "check us out & post" that too needs to be resized. Noticed how its out of place.
Here's my review: 1. Layout? How is it? - it's very professional thanks for xenforo software 2. Color Scheme? Looks great 3. Content? the whole site is empty. you will have a hard time getting people to participate if there's no activity at all. Most prospective users would want to browse around before even thinking of joining. Nobody likes to join an empty community, I know I won't. This is hard because your site requires user generated content. You can post as many articles or blogs on your site but if people see that there's no one there then they will still click back. I recommend you get your friends to be the active users first, alternatively, you can hire people to post. Sites like odesk, elance or freelancer can do that for you. Or advertise your site to Facebook or google adwords but you must have an incentive for people to join. For example you can come up with a contest. The user with the highest number of posts will win an IPAD or something like that. This should attract a lot of users, the challenge now is how they remain active, but that's another story. 4. Advertising? Before you even think of monetizing your site, get enough users and enough traffic first. You cannot attract advertisers if you don't have an audience. If your site attracts thousands of visitors, believe me when I say that advertisers will come to you and not the other way around. Hope this helps.
