Hello I am creating a website. It is a wordpress theme. Can you give me your professional advices? What can I do for more professional looking? http://alkantenik.com/akdar/ Thanks.
Hi Alkan, The first thing I would work on is your site's load time. At the moment it loads very slowly. I suggest you also work with the fold, at the moment you are losing all valuable space above the fold to a rather large, uninteresting image that tells me nothing about your site. What is your logo meant to represent? It doesn't tell me anything about your site. Try and make the site more informing and attention grabbing.
First off your site looks very clean and sharp! My 2 cents, I'm not sure on your experience on web design so forgive me if I mention anything that you have already looked at. 1: I would run your site through a validator "http://validator.w3.org/" I ran it quickly and it came up with 25 errors (some of which are things that aren't necessarily bad) but should definitely be looked at. 2: I would minify your HTML CSS and any scripts that you have (did you enable gzip compression) to help reduce page load time. In Google Chrome it took about 20 secs to load your main page. That's an extremely long time to load a page. Most people will leave and find something else before your page loads. NOTE: I am stuck at work right now with an internet speed of about 3-4mbps so that may be affecting the time a little. 3: I would change your services picture from PNG to JPEG I opened it in Photoshop and was able to bring the file size from 115kb to 39kb without any transparency in the image there's really no reason to have the image as a PNG at least in my eyes. Those are the top three things that I can think of. Hope that helps! Ryan
First of all, the load time, i Ran it through Pingdom tools: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/cZhxh1/http://alkantenik.com/akdar/ and the site is 1.1 MB and takes 4 seconds to load, I would advie that you optimize some of the images for web by running them through a image compressor or by saving them in a different format. The "fill out the questioner" and "check our services" etc blocks are too thin in my opinion, add some padding to the top and bottom and center the text. The Background below the big image is very plain, maybe add a very subtle texture as the background. The social icons at the top doesn't work(might be a bug) Other than that it looks very nice and clean, you did a good job, but as I said, pure white background -> Meh.. add a texture(subtle paper texture perhaps?)
First, kudos on starting with a responsive theme. That's very important. Note that written copy is also crucial to the sense of professionalism of any site. For example, I'm guessing you mean "questionnaire" (which is a set of questions to be answered), rather than "questioner" (which is a word to refer to a person who is asking something). Second, I would recommend using a color schemer. I think the background on your "Portfolio" box clashes with your logo. If that logo is non-negotiable, then use its color as your base color and derive secondary color choices from that. I happen to use an installed program (ColorSchemer Studio), but there are numerous online apps to help you with that, and most of them are free.
