Hello everyone, I just started working on this project and I'd like to know what your take would be on a website like this? The whole concept of Price Guide would be Computers and Prices. At the moment it's just going to be prices of computer components and accessories. In the future maybe I'd expand and include other consumer electronic products like Cell Phones, etc. The website is still under development. I took it live yesterday. I'd appreciate if somebody could share their thoughts like what scope and potential it could have? The primary reason I thought of launching this website was because whenever I need to create a computer configuration, the most difficult part is prices. It's always difficult finding prices of components that I decide. So I thought it would be great to have a type of central location where you could easily search and find prices of whichever component you are after. Your views will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -- Naif
Visual 1. Landing page looks dry and incomplete? Try putting at bit more there (images, videos, ads or more content) to make it a little bit lively. 2. Logo seems too small for me (try making it a little bit bigger) 3. Having images on product pages also help visitors to have a visual look on the product. SEO 1. Page speed is quite low - 78/100 on my browser. Try getting this a little more higher. (Combine external javascripts, minimize redirects, combine external CSS, etc.) 2. Add more unique and genuine content. - Nothing much to add here ATM, your website still looks a little bit unfinished to me.
Grimm, Thank you providing an insight, I value it. I understand the design is a bit dry I am not a designer but I gave it my best shot. My focus at the moment is not aesthetics but concept and functionality. I usually get a design developed by a professional once the site is fully complete and set up. What potential do you think a site which provides prices has? And I agree, it definitely needs unique content. I plan on providing a brief outlook on every product that will be listed. Hopefully that would help the site rank better in search engines. The primary focus however will always be products and prices.
Remember that if you're website is visually pleasing, it will please and attract visitors more. A site that provides prices is the same as a wiki entry with lots of informative content that exactly gives visitors all the needed information that they want. = BIG potential
I think the concept is solid. I do think you need to spend time with the design, or else hire someone to help you with it. Even the best idea will fail if it doesn't lure people in.
