Please review placement on a photo rating website

I changed the design of www.lebphoto.com, things are better with the new design, but I like to know if there is something more I can do to increase the income from this site.

for example place an Ad unit under the Welcome text? or it will be too much ads this way?

I will appreciate any tips about the colors, formats, placement, anything.

I would change the colors of your ad, try using a red link color instead of blue and change the url link color to black in stead of green

 

Yes, definitely change the colour of the leaderboard links to red. I'd also change the colour of your ad link to black to make it look like part of your navigation bar.
