    'lo folks,

I help maintain a volunteer-driven hosting service over at http://photopians.org/

Since I'm not a graphic designer or usability guru like most folks on this forum, I'd like to request a review on how to improve its presentation (we prefer it to be as simple as possible). Our target audience are mainly amateur and professional photographers. Please advise of any suggestions you may have. Thank you in advance.

personally, I think it looks nice. there is nice content.About the presentation, I have a good idea.
You could random select some photos, and put them into a dock-menu, so when people mouse-over they grow up :D
you can PM me if you want help

I think it looks great. Maybe the blurred effect on the top pic is a bad idea it hurts my eyes a bit. The unblurred version would be better. If you are worried about the text not standing out in the unblurred version, you can put a 50% transparent black or white strip behind the text or something?

    I like the simple look.
and yes it may be good to use the original pic in the header without the blurred effect.

The blurred picture on the top is indeed a bit tough on the eye. Consider something still which will also take 100% of the page's width (i.e. remove the back bits on each side)

I think the header area is a bit too large.. also, the background where it transitions from black to white is a bit harsh, try adding a gradient to smoothen it out a bit.
