I have created a new website https://www.bestoffr.com that is based on buying and selling using Best Offers only. There is not fixed pricing, buy it now or bidding. The system is very simple, the seller lists the item with a price they are looking to get for an item. The buyer does not see this price, an can submit offers for the item. If the offer is equal or greater than the sellers price the item will automatically be added to the buyers cart at the price the buyer submitted the offer for.

Example: You have an antique tool that you found and want to sell online. The issue is that you cannot find information on this tool and you do not have time to keep looking. List your item with a price of $125. The item is listed in your store and buyers can start submitting offers. Buyers do not see your price of $125. A buyer submits an offer of $375 for the antique tool. At that time, the buyer can now add the item to their cart for the $375. Any offers that are less than your price will be rejected and the buyer is instantly notified. You have now made $250 more than what your originally asked for the item. The buyer knew the value of the item in which they place a $375 offer. Both the buyer and seller are satisfied with the sale.

I would like some feedback on how I can attract people to start using the site. There are no fees involved and the seller uses a PayPal account to collect sales. The site uses SSL throughout. I have tried to make the site SEO friendly throughout. I have linked to all social networks and have linked to Google and Bing webmaster tools.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you

Okay interesting concept. Nice site on first impression. Clean and modern like. I signed up and listed an item 100 social signals in your Everything Else category. Was quick and easy. I like how you can have your own shop and list products on it so will probably try to list a few more on there but with regards to how to attract people to start using the site you have already said you have created social networking accounts on Facebook Twitter Google Pinterest etc. Now you need to work on those places every single day finding more fans and getting them to engage with your content, asking questions, posting the new items to your pages etc etc. Build up brand awareness, check sites like knowem.com and find new social networks to join and build brand awareness on. You need to get people using the site and perhaps show something on the front page that shows there is actual recent activity there like a recent items listed or sold or something. Just my POV.

By the way whats with the name bestoffr.com ?

    How did that come about?

    Cheers.

The name came about when trying to find a domain name for bestoffer.com but this was not available or in use. So I figured that if I dropped the "e" from the name it still would be appealing and understandable. Since Flickr and Tumblr look to be missing the"e", I figured why not. Thank you for your feedback.

Thats cool. I don't mind it. I personally think its what sets it aside and gives it its own identity and makes it easier to remember/recognize too.

Plus you are right, there are lots of reasons to drop the e from something that ends in er such as offer, flicker and tumbler which is otherwise a long tall drinking glass.

I actually am thinking of starting a domain now where the er version IS actually available but might make it *****listr.com anyway because of the above reasons. :)

    Good luck!
