Hey everyone I've just about finished the new design for my homepage http://www.clicapic.com/indexnew.php

I would love to hear your comments / suggestions before I replace the current homepage with this new design. I'm really just looking for comments on the visual aspects of the homepage (colour scheme, layout, etc.) at this stage.

Please note that this page is still in development so some elements may or may not work. If something doesn't work, you can mention it here but chances are I know about it already!

    Thanks

Cool site, so you sell adspace on your site mainly right?

    Good luck to you

    Hi,

I'm not sure if you're into branding, but I think CLICAPIC will make more sense to viewers and will be easier on the eyes if it's typed this way - clicApic. Also, I suggest you place this text or a variation of this text from your original layout to your new design

"BUY A SPACE FOR AS LITTLE AS $5!!
    SELL YOUR SPACE FOR $$$$$$?"

to make it clearer to your visitors what your website is all about. Don't make the text All-caps though. And change the font into something more readable. :)

Nice layout and graphics. I would only reduce the opacity of the “no banner” image.

    links dont seem to work...
I like the idea, and it is well executed.

I would consider a little space between the top line of ads and the menu above as in FF it is sometimes difficult to click the top menu!

    Thanks for your comments,

Sorry, I know the links themselves do not work at the moment, the current homepage retrieves information from the database in a different way than this new one so I'll modify the script when I do the change over.
Kassi, the 'no banner' image: I presume you mean the empty cells? I designed all the graphics on my laptop and the screen isn't quite as bright, so I've probably over-compensated on a few of the colours. I'll have a look at it later on a 'real' monitor. Thanks for the tip.

I was wondering though, is the pop-up frame making the navigation a bit awkward? This was everyone's biggest complaint with the original design (granted it was an awful lot bigger!) but I don't want to make the same mistake twice...

Cool concept and design. I would like to see some breif explanation text on the homepage. I'll circle back and check the progress of the site.

The concept is in 'transition'... hence the lack of description. It started out as an advertising/directory website but I'm looking to incorporate a bookmarking element into the design. Basically I want users to be able to login and the homepage will display their choice of links.

At the moment I'm unsure whether or not users will be able to choose to link to any website or if they can only choose links from our own list of advertisers (there'll be 10,000 links in total in our own database). This really boils down to a copyright issue - if we allow our users to link to any website and upload images for the links we'll be using other companies logos without their permission...
