This is going to be the new design for my personal portfolio website. I am looking for some advanced critique before implementing it. http://lizzydavis.com/lizzy/design/redesignWIP.jpg Things to note: - Featured image (jellyfish photo in this example) will change on page refresh. - Testimonial/quote area will update with a new quote every 30 seconds or so. - Haven't paid much attention to footer yet, so don't critique it too hard. Am open to ideas and suggestions for it, however. Thanks!
I am not a fan of white text on dark background, so sorry but it is not somehow for me ... You have an original approach to your portfolio, but I just wanted to add that in your logo your name more looks like Dizzy and not Lizzy ... I also asked for my friend and he was in the same thoughts ... so maybe you can think about it!
@dipsss - Telling me that it is average work does not help me at all. Please respond with what you think could be improved, or what you don't like about it - otherwise don't bother responding with an unhelpful opinion. Thank you. @ComputerGirl - No worries, there are a lot of people that don't like white text on dark background, but I'm not concerned about it as long as it is readable. I can't appeal to everyone in the world, but I do like to demonstrate my personal style and preferences in the design that will be representing me. Thank you for telling me about the misreading of my logo - that is definitely helpful info. I haven't touched my logo in years, but I would say it is probably due for a redesign soon, so I will make sure I keep what you said in mind. Thanks for the helpful comment!
@Taufan Adityarahman J.U - I'm sorry, I don't 100% understand what your comment meant. The content being displayed on that layout is just example, I don't find it necessary for anybody to really read. @testboss & yusufmemon. - Thanks!
The link you posted is broken. However, I had a look at your site: http://www.deviantart.com/ And all I can say is: Wow! Beautiful! The site's got every feature such a site needs. It looks polished and highly professional. The graphics are perfect: high resolution, clear colors and shapes, and generally enticing to look at. Do you have a fan page on facebook?
thanks all @amirk - I was actually thinking about doing that. I will probably keep the testimonials area, then add a link to "see all testimonials" or some such. Thanks for the suggestion! @ListBuildingForNewbies - www.deviantart.com is (unfortunately) not my site! I have been a member of their site for nearing seven years, the link in my signature was supposed to just be a link to my gallery on DeviantArt. They have been around for over ten years, and it is a very wonderful community of all sorts of Artists, from amateurs to professionals. I definitely recommend any designers looking to share and receive comments/critiques on their art to sign up at DeviantArt, and they do have a facebook page you can like - http://www.facebook.com/deviantart?ref=ts&v=wall - wish I could take credit for that design, but I can't! @jsnewbee - thanks - I probably won't change the font, in all honesty, but I do appreciate the feedback! It's always good to know other opinions.
Thank you for the information about DeviantArt and the link to the fan page. I've already "liked" the DeviantArt fan page (one of my facebook friends is also a fan). By the way I love your style the celestial thems, the flowing shapes, the shades and colors of the sea. It's very inspiring to look – beautiful!
Hi Lizzy, I was just wondering, what is your goal with your site? What do you wish to tell to your prospective client? How he/they will find you? Why he should hire you and not somebody else? on the net you can find php script for testimonials. (Advanced Testimonials Manager System) These are some basic questions on which you should have answers. I don't mean any harm, don't misunderstand me. regards
