Hi guys, This is my first website ever - carbootsaletips.co.uk I've not designed or coded it myself but I did contribute a fair bit to the design. The key objective of the website is to capture users email addresses in exchange for some high quality content that will be of genuine benefit to users (in PDF format) The day-to-day focus of the website will be content, content, content in order to establish a loyal readersip that come to us for the information for everything related to car boot sales. As this is my first site, I was wondering if any experienced bloggers or webmasters out there would mind taking a look at the site and making any suggestions for improvement that may help to; * Capture more email addresses * Increase visitor loyalty * Increase visitor participation Thanks in advance! What I like: Big images, nice layout What I don't like: the logo where it says "car boot sales tips" we can see that the image doesn't combine with the background Goodluck with your new wordpress blog!
Nice Design, I liked it. Good Job man. I can see there is a bit of empty space in the left side of your Header image just below the Text Read More. Putting some Text content in lower size font there will make the design more beautiful. You can use a Slider there too. The design is nice but I think it is too many dark tones (black and brown). May be you can enlarge a little bit the font size in the lower part. The main navigation links are really small and I would insert some excerpt in the "Winter Car Boots" space
Well spotted - My designer will be taking care of that within the next few days. I had the website coded so I could add text in that panel but for some reason it isn't working. I am looking into it at the moment - nice plugin suggestion will check it out I agree with all four points. I wanted to see a bright, more vibrant design but the designer has gone for a more grungy look which I don't think works as well as it could have. I will look into enlarging the fonts and the navigation ASAP Thanks for the feedback guys - really appreciated!
Good design .Only thing you must take of layout images .You should use css hacks such as repeat background and avoid using no repeat big size images . Overall Nice work .
Best way to acquire color sense is to review the professional designs available and then compare those with your layout .

I agree with the design tips and really like the site! However, it falls short a bit on content. First of all, you need to post much more frequently. Also, your readers need to know what to expect. I've found with my clients if we identify a sub-topic each day, (for example monday you talk about ebay, wednesday is car tips, etc) it's much more likely to gain subscribers and repeat visitors. Also, more photos and video, including funny ones, will help make the experience more fun for readers too. Remember, content is king in search!
Your site is very good, if you continue to develop, so in the future, it will be very important for you, so you will feel reluctant to leave.
Obviously with different text color because white on white won't work but you know, it needs some body there.
Good organised site. Well done. As many already pointed out color combination has scope for imporevements. The main body section seems like do not have its own background color. So the backgound of the whole page and your content becomes same. It would be nice for readers if they can immediately see some kind of visual boundary for you content.
Great Design!! but I dont like the background gradient color from blue to brown. I would like dark brown to brown. Overall it's nice!!
