Please review my website

I have just recently launched a new website, www.thetutordirect.com, and I would greatly appreciate any comments or ideas on how to make it better. While I do know a great deal about math and science (my website's topic) I do not know much about design (I am using yahoo pagebuilder to make it for me). Thank you in advance for any help you can give me to make my site better.

graphics would be good, there is a free banner maker that I found, cooltext.com Also, make your links appear like your google ads. Make them the same size, color, etc. Just a thought.

You Should Make Your Titles Bold

And your content not. Graphics are not the answer for everything, but you could use some to help distinguish the menu. If not graphics try using different background colors. I would focus on that menu for now to try to make the site look better. Here is a great site for any level of web designer: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/designmistakes.html

hello Dlouhane. Try using a table if you know how to. A good idea can be to have 2 or 3 'boxes' towards the end of your page linking to chemistry, astronomy and other important sections. You can use a few lines of text with them also.

You can see an example of how it should appear on the home page of my cooking site like its done for health and diet and gift ideas.

If you want, you can follow another format, where the image is at the top and the content is below the image. See the 2 column and 3 column format boxes HERE.

anyone else have an opinion by chance? I took the liberty of changing the color scheme around and adding some more ads. I was trying to imitate a site that made quite a bit of adsense money. Only thing I am missing is a good graphic or two.

Still not done but curious if anyone else had an opinion.

    Thank you

Add a menu in a constant position, one that will be there no matter where you go and will help you navigate the site.

Along the lines of getting the most ad revenue, the value of the page should be first in the upper left hand corner. Currently readers have to get past the adds to find:

    Welcome to The Tutor Direct!

That is spammy enough to send people away without looking further.

There are a lot of free template sources out there. Perhaps you should find one that floats your boat and build upon it. The key is to come up with some sort of uniform look and feel for your site.

You don't need that much advertising unless your value proposition is to hope people accidentally click on it. However, accidents are not really a sustainable revenue stream.

It also looks like all your questions and answers are static html pages. You may consider using some free blog software like wordpress to capture your answers. Wordpress has categories (use one for each topic: Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Phys.Sciences, Biology, Botany) and about a gazillion free templates to start with. Plus when you change your template, all the pages are updated instantly.

If you can't or don't want to learn the basics of design or Wordpress, you should probably consider trading some tutoring time for some web design time. I am sure that there are a lot of students out there that would think that's a great deal.

Any idea where I can find someone to create a template for me or show me a decent one (no matter what I read, I do not think I can do it).

I guess I can wait for my 14 days to try the business forum, just curious if anyone else has any ideas.

What would be ideal is someone set up a template that I could use repeatedly.

Every time a question is answered, fill in the template.

Thank you once again, I get good ideas here.
