    Your sites needs to be more compact in its presentation. Try using some button gif images instead of word links and add the categories from the right side into a horizonal menu at the top under your logo.

    The theme needs to be changed and made better. Try using a light theme and covering the entire space with some content / ads. Then it will look better.

    I dont think you should go to develop your own templates. If you have did so consider changing the template
