Overall I think it is quite good. However I would say if you can aggregate some of the categories that would be good for your seo. Look at this one;

The further you get from the main domain, the less the search engines will pay attention to the content. Why not just have /news/united-states/content?

Very good design. You can remove the bottom part of the page to make more space for information.
