You have a great domain. You should add something in your sidebar, because it don't look nice if it is so empty.

I think it would be a good idea to add what you have in footer (new topics, most active topics). Or some related and helpful links from your niche (links for some tutorials, or something like that). Also as an alternative, you can use advertising (adsense or if there is something only for your niche...i don't know).
I won't be using adverts at this stage. I like your tutorial idea. Thing is when you register and login another box appears on the sidebar and I also wanted to leave a space for sponsors / affiliates. Your thoughts and opinions have been greatly appreciated.
