Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone could offer some comments and feedback on a website I've been running for a while now,http://www.gamexe.net. I created the design a little while ago, and it is valid XHTML as well as CSS, although the code isn't the cleanest at the moment. I realize that the site may be a tad monotone, but that is the look I was going for: very minimal use of colours. As for what the site is about: it's mostly a graphic and web design community, although various gaming content is planned to be introduced soon. Some of the noteworthy content consists of free graphics, tutorials, topsite and phpBB skins. Wordpress and proxy templates are expected to be released very soon as well. Anyway, once again, I'd be happy to hear all comments and criticism on the site. Thanks, Daniel
i am not sure about the content of the site but design rocks.. Try New Goople - Google Search Engine..
Thanks for the comments. ^^ I appreciate the positive feedback on the design. As for content, I don't quite follow - I would have thought that Gamexe.net had a decent amount of content for a small design/gaming community. 46 tutorials, quite a few of which have 1000-3000 words, 300 free signatures, 100+ avatars, as well as several free templates for topsite, forum software, and more, all of which are custom and original. Still, gaming content is lacking, although I plan for that to change.
Flattery, imho, is the most useless form of a review. Anyhow, I like the overall layout and scheme, though the colors are pretty dull. Congrats on the XHTML 1.0 validation - rather hard, I must admit. Is it a staff or a person-run website? I would make the site's objective a little clearer - I'm not quite sure why I would be there in the first place, and what I might gain out of it (besides the relatively obscure links to a tutorial up there). There needs to be some sense of cohesion, otherwise it would be hard to set yourself apart from the thousands of similar sites out there.
Well, Gamexe.net is run by a few friends and I, although the site and designs were made and coded by myself, except of course for the use of popular software such as phpBB. I could see why the objective may not be clear, as I myself am not sure what the site should be for. I created it a couple years back as a gaming community and a first attempt at a website, but then I ventured into more technical interests such as web design, which reflected on the content. So, now the site is composed primarily of various tutorials and free resources. In the end though, I think, I may return to the idea of turning it into a gaming community while covering some of the latest game releases. I appreciate the comments, as always.
The site looks nice, the design is not cluttered. Looks like it will be a popular site. Best of luck!
